dentists accepting medicaid

Yes, I agree with Meri. Also, for example, I had to have an oral surgeon take something out of my tongue and it was billed under my medical insurance. Perhaps you can check into that. Unfortunately those of us with immune problems that cause dental problems aren't covered by medical insurance. We should be and I know the Sjogren's Syndrome foundation is working on that but for now dental work due to dry mouth isn't covered. Good luck!!

Most dental schools will do dental repair and cleanings at very nominal fees. The work is done by students under the supervision of dentists. Try calling one of these numbers for information. If they can't help you they should be able to point you in the right direction.

University of Illinois at Chicago
College of Dentistry
801 S. Paulina Street
Chicago, IL 60612
312-996-7558

Another source is the Illinois Dental Services organization. [Doral]

dentists accepting medicaid

Finding a dentist who will take Medicaid is a difficult task. You should be able to contact your local department of public health but we both know that takes a lot of run around. Up here in Michigan Dental benifits are limited through Medicaid at this point but I do know that it all depends on the county you live in as well.

Try this website as it is an Illinios dentist search form. http://www.isds.org/findDentist/index.asp I'm not sure if it will tell you if someone accepts Medicaid but you really just need to call and ask. even those thata report may say take it may no longer.

My other suggestion is to call a local Head Start program and (nicely) ask if they have a listing of Medicaid Dentists. That's usually one of the resources they have for their clients.

Hi! I haven't used Medicaid, so I'm unfamiliar with how it works. Are you unable to contact Medicaid directly to see if there are participating dentists in your area? It seems like Medicaid themselves, would be the best people to ask who exactly accepts their insurance. I use Tricare (military insurance) and can contact Tricare directly either by phone or internet to see which doctors and dentists accept their coverage.

Funny this post has been here for a while, but I never noticed it until today, the day I got fitted for my progressive glasses. I an nearsighted, but when I am in a seminar I need to wear them to see the presentation but take them off to read and take notes, so bi focals it is. I cant wait to see what they are like. I have never corrected my near vision before, so hopefully it wont be too weird.

Why does it always have to be always about the "government-overseen" health care, though? The insurance companies have, over the past 30 years, pretty much gotten in the driver's seat regarding health care, not the government.

I am willing to bet that the insurance companies will get their way with stopping healthcare reform no matter how reasonable any final bill is. There's just too much money out there for the big boys (and girls) who already ration medicines and other things to allow any meaningful change to be made.

My headache turned out to be rare called vasovascular coming from the leading artery in the back of the brain that supplies blood to the rest.It is near the brain stem and actually kill you.I am very careful when I have them and if they last longer than 2 days or I lose my vision and speech then I have to be in the hospital. They cause the blood in your head to be restricted and thats why there so dangerous. They can cause strokes and even your brain stem that controls bretahing ,temprature and blood pressure to not react nornmally. There are currently no mes available as of yet for the type of headache.Relpax and all the others can cause more restriction and can be deadly. So you just have to take it one day at a time.Sherry please have a ct scan the symptoms your having seem like a tumor, not to scare you.

My cancer test came out normal. It was a blood work up that specifically targets cancer and it ended up being ok.The problem I am having is my gland has not gone down and not only that I have severe muscle aches and am tired quite often. My Thyroid test was great but my white cell count was 11.7 and 10 is considered normal. So does anyone know of anything else I can do.Somehting keeps my white cell count up and my gland swollen and they have no clue.I have not had the contrast thing done but I have had dye ran before and I was highly allergic to it and it almost killed me so that makes me a little sceard.Any ideas?

Turkey Trots

Do any of you do Turkey Trot runs or walks in your community on Thanksgiving Day? My sister and I ran in our first 5K turkey trot this morning. It was nice to get some fresh air (even though it was COLD out) & raise money for charity. Plus, the cool free tshirt didn't hurt either. :)

Overprotective Parenting

TheBard said…

I am old school and I have raised my children thusly. I have one more—out of four—left at home and I am sure she will tell you I do not smother her. I have allowed all of my children to fail from time to time so that they can learn from the experience.

Our jobs as parents, are to yes, protect our children, but not over-protect them to such an extent that we leave them emotionally and intellectually unprepared for society and the world. They are our children, but they do not belong to us, they belong themselves, and we (parents) have to prepare them to survive without us when they reach the age of the majority.

Of course I am bringing an American perspective to the table, other societies are different, but none of the ones I have come in close contact with over the years believe in over-protecting children; nothing good can come of the practice.

And I am very cognizant of the perils this American society presents, but we must, must, must teach our children to confront these head on by giving them the proper tools to do so. Hiding them from society, or more accurately, in the house, will only harm them in the long run, and weaken society along the way. Because, indeed our children belong as much to the society in which they reside as they belong to themselves.

Vincent
