I'm young and I don't "tweet"! VERY stupid to me, no reason at all to have or want to do Twitter here...

When I first signed up for Twitter, it was so confusing to me. Ask Gigi. But then I got used to it. I think it is a great place to "text message" friends but it's not worth it if you don't know anyone. To me, it's kinda like text messaging because you can only post a limited amount of characters per message.

I think you are referring to DM (Direct message). I think only you and the person you send it to can see it.

I agree with you 100% about twitter! I joined twitter, but I think it's a silly website. Who really reads anyone's tweets?! I keep getting these messages to sell stuff on twitter. That's not for me. lol I do like facebook much better, even though they have "bugs" to work out also. Good review AnnaBanana! : )

I actually like Twitter too, probably more than most people may realize because a lot of times I'll pop in during the day just to read messages and see what's happening. I've "met" some neat people like Darren (the Magician) and his friend Kristy.

My complaint all along is that it could be addictive if you are in it too much during the day but that is true of anything. Moderation in all things and we will be fine.

I have been on Twitter since 2007 and have a wide variety of friends that span the net and real life on my list. It's kind of funny to see so many people that I associate with on different sites (and in real life) all gathered in one place on the net.

I enjoy Twitter and follow several website sales (Shopaholic much?) and have a blast hanging with people who are watching reality TV at the same time I am. It's fun and so simple.

I just don't like Facebook at all. I don't get it, can't follow it, don't like the interface, etc. I am on there but not often and not for long. I tell people if they want me to tweet me. lol.

I have tweeted by text from vacations and other places. I like that no one expects anything of me on Twitter. I can be gone for a long time and pick up where I left off and I can be as chatty or quiet as I want. And I can say anything I feel like saying at the moment. I also like to see what my net and real friends are up to.

I am not one to follow celebs but have a few wrestlers I know on my list but very few. And only if I really know them in real life. I think Twitter is what you make it. Some love it, some hate it and that's cool. It's like any other social site. You either like it don't.

Twitter gives me an opportunity to chat with my friends, like others chat on Facebook or Myspace. And sometimes you can enter giveaways and actually win. I did! 2 autographed books from Kathy Ireland. Many of the stars promote contests that are only on Twitter.

I don't have mobile internet either. I Twitter from the web, TweetDeck and text message from my cell phone. I tweet with a bunch of friends, there are a handful of Viewpoints members there and we have all found each other and we visit. And there are a handful of celebrities that actually chat with the fans. When you follow celebs you get an insight scoop of alot of their upcoming projects, you get to see them living before the public eye and you see the human side of them that we often don't see when they are in the limelight. A big plus for many of us is that we have found a way to encourage others. And sometimes when all you need is a good laugh or a "virtual" shoulder to cry on, you can find it there.

i enjoy following people on twitter, but i don't really post myself. nobody i physically know is on there, it seems to be mostly celebs, and my whole family is on facebook. i update them all there. plus, i don't have a smart phone, i can't afford the monthly service charges to get internet on my phone. although it's cool, i just don't see it as being for "regular people" like me. <3 ~jen

I've had fun tweeting with everyone during the shows like American Idol. The one liners can be sooo funny.

One thing I've learned is that the Viewpointers here who are also at Twitter are wonderful people with great senses of humor and big hearts. I'm proud to call you friends.

I believe one BIG difference between VP and Twitter is that we can communicate with a whole slew of people in real time and at one time in Twitterville. When someone sends us a comment at VP we have to go to inbox and read the comments and then we have option to reply OR we have to go to each profile to send comments. In Twitter we can send one comment to multipile people at the same time and it's like Instant Messaging a larger group all at once.

And like Patty said, sometimes we get to know people on a different level at Twitter; especially when they are chatting about some of the reality shows or when it gets late at night and the stars, literally the celebs, on the west coast come out to play.

For instance, Melissa Gilbert will be releasing a book Prairie Tale on June 9th and while interacting with her she has already given us dates that her book tour will air. The celebs also give us the inside scoop on business deals they are making, production numbers they are working on and so forth.

And for me a biggie is this: I am meeting a lot of new "friends" who share my faith and love for the Lord and we get to encourage each other.

I still don't have a Facebook account because I think VP covers the social networking scene for me pretty well. Twitter is just a way to have fun, share random thoughts and let loose and have fun.

I have been twittering for a few months now. I love it. I'm very careful when using social network sites. These sites like Twitter and Facebook are more than tweeting back and forth. I have meet so many people with CRPS/RSD (a chronic nerve pain disorder). The month of May on Facebook/Twitter as been a CRPS/RSD Awareness month. You can use these sites for causes to get the word out about them.

If it was not for Twitter, I would have not met so many new friends that have been battling CRPS/RSD. I have also loved/enjoyed getting to know my Viewpoints friends better. Oh, if you write articles, poems, blogs ... you can also promote them on your Twitter/Facebook page.

I have been a member of Twitter for a couple of months now and I'm having a great time! It's especially fun twittering back and forth with friends on twitter during certain television shows. It's like having a big party! It's also fun to read random thoughts by people you "thought" you knew. It's a great way to stay connected to the people here at Viewpoints as well. :)

Although I don't care for Twitter, I totally think the opposite about websites like this. I have been in touch with so many people these last few years due to Facebook. These are people I seriously haven't talked to AT ALL since High School. If anything it has broadened my social horizons by a ton! Then, once I get in touch with these people through sites like Facebook, I find it much easier to make plans with them b/c suddenly it's like I know them again. After 10 years of not talking to some of these people, it's a really nice way to keep in touch. Plus family members who live across the country are suddenly much easier to keep up with.

Finally, some people NEVER would remember to mail me pictures after occasions, now I get to see the pictures almost days after an event and tons more pictures of their own events. I feel so much more in the know now then I did before.

Anyone who knows me would never say I was socially isolated because of computer technology. I hang out with family and friends a lot! I just use Twitter, personal blog, and Viewpoints as a venue for sharing thoughts and stories with friends and family.

You are only controlled by those things, substances, and people that you allow to control you. It's all about self-discipline and self-control. My profession has me interacting with people in the mainstream 8-10 hours a day so a little time with friends is a much needed relief.

Twitter is just another way for people to isolate themselves and avoid real life interaction. Everywhere you go people are talking on a cell phone, texting, tweeting, plugged into an ipod, or chained to a laptop. By taking their own personal world everywhere they go, people are losing touch with the world immediately surrounding them. There are interesting and friendly people all around you, but you don't see them because you can't see past your digitally created comfort zone. You are also unaware of the dangers surrounding you. Don't get me wrong, I am all about technology, I love my computer; and my cell phone is just that - a cell phone, not a lifeline. I control my tech world, it does not control me.

Well, I must be odd girl out or girl in the bubble because I am thoroughly enjoying the interaction with people and the rare comments from celebs. Today I got a comment from Kirstie Alley. Melissa Gilbert referred someone to my personal blog and the person hooked up with me there and then on Twitter. How cool was that? As a result of Twitter linking someone to my personal blog I met the person who headed up Natasha Richardson's website.

I keep up with my friends by reading most recent posts. I keep my followers down to a minimal by using discretion on who I will allow to follow me. If they are following tons of people and posts zero or few updates then I block them. If they are entrepreneurs for businesses, products, etc. that are of no interest to me then I block them. And if they are promoting issues that I am against them I block them.

Twitter is like a tabloid in real time. You get to hear the stars voice their opinions, discuss issues, and share their day to day lives with you and it's all for free!

I'm also glad to be able to chat in real time with my friends in my personal life and those here at Viewpoints via Twitter. But to each his own. I have been asked on several occasions to join Facebook and still haven't. It's just whatever floats your boat!

good for you vivasuzi! i do find it helpful for my publishing and letting people know what I have written recently. I used to send out a newsletter to friends and family so they could read (if they wanted) new articles I recently wrote. But that took TONS of time. Now I just let it auto post to FB and Twitter and anyone who wants to can read them.

Course if you LOVE my writing you can also subscribe to some of the sites I write for :-D LOL

As many of my Twitter friends have seen I was able to get back into Twitterville. It seems that when Twitter did all those updates last week they produced a glitch for AOL users. We had to go in and do a browser fix and allow for tunneling thru the Internet, whatever that means. All I know is that once I did 2 simple steps as instructed by AOL I was back into the tweet tweet mode.

Twitter definitely needs to get a larger server so that these problems don't keep reoccurring. Otherwise, many birds are going to fly the coop and never return.

I sent you, LadyMagic, Patty, Krista, Jenny and CelebSideDish tweets. I figured something was up when I didn't get a response back from Patty or CSD because they are usually quick about responding. I got very frustrated because I thought that would be my way of communicating with people while on vacation. Has anyone been able to get on the site? I just got the error message again that the site is not responding because it is either too busy or the server is broken. Oh well, we can still have fun at Viewpoints!!

I was loving Twitter but haven't been able to get on the site since returning from my vacation this morning. Krista told me she was seeing all my tweets that I was posting via txt msg while on vacation so I'm not sure what's going on right now. Has anyone else had problems getting on? Hmm...did people get the DMs I sent while on vacation?

I enjoy twitter bc it helps me stay in touch with friends who aren't on FB. but TBH I am not THRILLED with either one of them. THe best part is having fun with so many friends. I keep having all these people following me and I have NO idea who they are or where they came from. but hey if it gets me pv's I am all for it I guess. LOL

A note to my Twitter friends:

I tried to send you guys several messages from a wireless laptop via Twitter.

None of these messages showed up on any of your Twitter profiles and oddly enough all of my old messages to you have appeared to disappear. Had Twitter indicated there was a problem, I wouldn't have wasted time bothering with the messages at all.

Don't look now, but I may be writing a review about Twitter when I get home and it may be a mixed review.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm really enjoying "Spring Break" in L.A.
