Rating vs. Review?

BTW to all. You can tell if it's a rating by mousing over the links to your reviews.

IF it's a review, you'll see -review-random in the link. Random is a random short character/number string

IF it is a rating, you'll see a link directly to the products main page that says -reviews. Once you find that, you've found your rating without actually having to click on every single link :)

I agree it would be cool to filter to only see your ratings. Maybe they will make that a future enhancement.

I know what you mean. I did a rating for a TV show that I just didn't have much to say about. It felt incomplete :-D But I really had nothing else to say!! The rating and soundbite said it all!

I do think ratings are cool though. I think the overall star rating of a product is what matters when making decisions so Ratings seem to make it easier for some people who just want to give their Star input and a quick sentance to explain why.

Here I am, late to the party, but I did go back into some of my earlier reviews and found one where I had nary a good point. Once I put one in, the pesky 1 rating disappeared off my profile. ;>

I show one more rating than I did. I've done them because I really didn't want to review whatever it was yet I wanted to put in my 2 cents. I don't know where the extra rating is though. I always do I am tags. Jo

Well, that explains how I have ONE rating and 20 reviews, although I'll have to go back and see what I did to get me a rating instead of a review. Still a mystery to me, even after seeing the requirements!

I had the same problem you did Rudy. I couldn't figure out for the life of me how I got a "rating" when I never did one. Mine was also an IM Tag issue. For some reason, I just don't feel comfortable rating a product. I haven't done one yet but maybe soon I will take the leap!

I agree with mrkstvns...I know I did one rating on purpose to see what it was about, but now there is two...It would be nice to click on ratings and see where it is.

I don't want to do any more ratings if I can help it. I did it once because I dislike the Speed Racer movie so much that I don't want to spend one or two hours writing about it....but I don't think I'll do it again.

I've done quite a few ratings. What I find a little strange is not knowing or not letting the consumer know it's just a "rating" versus a review. They don't show up differently I don't think so I'm afraid people might click on something I rated and not find a review and get upset. Jo

The task of making ratings more intuitive and easier to differentiate from reviews is on our list of things to revise soon. Meanwhile... here's a breakdown of rating vs. reviews, including how to upgrade your rating to a review:

Ratings vs. Reviews

Review requirements:

- Sound bite

- Stars

- I Am tags

- Pros/Cons

- 250 characters (not words)

**If you omit any of the above, your review becomes a rating.**

Rating requirements:

- Sound Bite

- Stars

**Additional text can still be added but there is no word or character requirement.**

If you go in to EDIT any rating... you can upgrade it to a review by adding the missing required field(s).

I posted a review yesterday and after I did I clicked on my profile which should have indicated 162 reviews. To my surprise it showed 161 reviews and 1 rating. I've never left just a rating. Anyone else experience this?
