Memories? Always fun.

What's the most memorable thing that happened on Halloween at your house or when you were out trick or treating?

Snow White and Tinkerbell came to my house. They were cute little girls and did the whole "trick or treat" bit. Then one said, "That's a really cool snake. It looks almost real."

Oops. I didn't decorate other than a jack o lantern.

Yep. I looked down at a big old black snake on my front porch - a real one. Just a couple of feet away.

I didn't want to scare the girls, and I do know snake types and knew it was just a black snake. So, I smiled and said, "Yep. That's a good one huh?"

As soon as they got out of sight, I scared that black snake off. I still can't believe that snake picked Halloween to crawl up on my porch and sit there.

I was at a Halloween party where they had dry ice scattered all over the room. As you probably know it makes a fog/smoke-like appearance.  It was really cool looking and gave the party a spooky feeling.

Our neighbors decided to put their lit jack-o-latern in a pile of dead leaves. You could see flames from down the block! My son (4) told everyone he met that "it's smoky at the end of the street." The fire truck and police came, but they quickly left for a real emergency - a 75 year old man who lived just about a mile from our home decided to have a smoke, even though he has on Oxygen due to emphysema. He caught fire and burned 98% of his body. He didn't make it though. :-(

Pretty intense for an area of the county that doesn't get any excitement other than a few drunk drivers. We also had a shoot-out between a fugitive and FBI agent at a nearby Subway, but that was on Nov. 1, not Halloween.

(My kids went as a lady bug and a pirate, if you wanted to know!)

I went to my adult nephew's house to be with the family before going out to eat as we always do. We were watching the rain delayed Yankees game (It wasn't on yet, just the rain..) when suddenly, porn came on the channel. Hardcore porn. The kids, thankfully, were not in the room but you should have seen us all scramble to figure out what was going on. After a few moments, the game was back and we have no idea what happened.

I am just so glad the kids weren't sitting there. Satellite dishes are really strange. lol.

Wow, nothing that exciting, we give out full sized candy bars every year, so this year we had a set of kids who came by 3 times. They only got candy the first time. No costumes, and the second time they came they simply pulled their shirts over their heads, and I sent them packing. The third time they came with masks, but I recognized the clothing. No deal.

The day before Halloween I was volunteering in my daughters' class and there was a lockdown. That's when there is a dangerous person in the area, or on the property, so all the teachers are advised to lock the doors, draw the blinds and turn off the lights. It was a little scary, especially since her class is in a portable, ande not connected to the main school building. Luckily the person in question was apprehended quickly.

One year we hung a small "motion sensitive" ghost from the front porch awning.  When the kids would yell, "Trick or Treat" - it would shake around & make ghostly noises.  All got a big kick out of it - except for one bigger kid.  I thought he was WAY TOO OLD to be 'trick or treating'.  It scared him so bad - he jumped up & banged his head right into the awning.

I also used to hide outdoor stereo speakers in the bushes & play a CD of "Sounds of Horror".

We went to some friends house after taking their advice that their neighborhood had a "really good" Halloween celebration. It didn't. But I think the real reason they told us this is because they wanted to imbibe a little more than usual and didn't want to drive home from our house.

So, the evening was quite uneventful. The highlight was when my little 4- year old grabbed a toy guitar, sat on a chair in front of everyone, and performed some songs.
