1. I used to chase the housekeeper with creepy crawlers when I was a kid.

2. I loved riding go carts.

3. Loved riding motorcycles--dirt bikes.

4. Love racing (my dad raced dirt track)--always wanted to drive in the Powderpuff one day.

5. After living in the city for most of my life, we finally moved back to the country last year. My husband and I both grew up in the county so we feel at home now.

1. I LOVE making my own Halloween costume, opposed to buying one. It migt be because of my make-up FX background! I LOVE getting to do character make-up in my costume design, especially if I get to use prosthetics!

2. I can't stand heat! When it's over 89 degrees, it's too hot for me!

3. Sour Patch Kids are a weakness of mine!

4. My favorite toon is Garfield! Why don't they play Charlie Brown and Garfield together any more like they use to?

5. I lke to do the most amount of house cleaning with the least amount of elbow grease!

I mistakenly turn the channel to hunting sometimes and almost throw up. Ugh. My husband eats all the meat (I do NOT) and he hasn't gotten a deer in ages. I think he goes more now for the solitude and the picture taking. We have no antlers in this house and never will. I mean, really! Don't get me started, I'll get mad at him as he is sitting here contentedly watching baseball.

I better add to this now.

1. I was a member of MENSA and didn't enjoy the meetings at all. I found them self righteous and boring.

2. I write under a male name in a wrestling magazine that I can't name. No one knows it is me and I get no real byline. I do get paid though and my articles are shoot, not worked. That is, I write real stuff not storyline themed articles or interviews. When I see people on the net talking about a story they read by XXX, I smile because they have no idea that is little ole me.

3. I once bought a laptop from a friend who said he bought it from someone else. I quickly realized from the info on it that the person either didn't care that all of his personal info was on the laptop he sold or...he didn't really sell it. I called him and it turned out it was stolen. I returned the laptop to him and refused the award money he offered me. I am not friends with the guy who sold me the laptop any longer.

4. I lust Blow Pops. I absolutely love getting to the middle and getting the gum.

5. I am a chronic procrastinator. I'll tell you why later. ;)

1. I'm finding that adapting a short story I wrote to screenplay form is not as easy as I thought.

2. I've wanted to be a writer since I was very young.

3. I am much better at Language Arts, Social Studies and Humanities courses than I am at Science and Mathematics.

4. I bought Joseph Heller's Catch-22 in 1983 and have never finished it.

5. I have Homer's The Illiad and The Odyssey in Spanish and I have finished them.

2. I hoard straws. I hate to use straws that I get from fast food places so I will use the same one a couple of times before breaking open a new one. I don't have any idea why I am a straw hoarder. It's very strange.

3. I can't spell maintenance right. EVER. (I spell checked it and fixed it here.)

4. I haven't had a glass of milk since I was pregnant the last time - 19 years ago.

5. I'm cold 98% of the time. Even in the summer. The other 2% of the time, I'm way too hot. I don't think I have been at a comfortable temperature ever!

2. I think everyone should do something nice for someone, anyone, once a day. A total random act of kindness.

3. People with no common courtesy are my biggest pet peeves. If I hold the door open for you, say THANK YOU!!

4. I have the hardest time deciding on something at a restaurant. I usually narrow it down to like 3 things and just can't decide. That's usually when my husband says, you get this and I'll get that, and we'll share. I knew I married him for a reason!

5. I LOVE to play games and I married a non-game player. Sucks for me.

It's This2shallpass19's birthday, not mine. Thirty was almost seven years ago for me. But happy birthday to her from me!

1. Since January I have lost almost 100 lbs. I didn't go on a diet other than just eliminating junk, or exercise more than a leisurely walk a day. Retiring from the Army made me a Biggest Loser.

2. Even though I lost the weight, I kept the boobs! ha ha ha now I know what "God's gift" means! :P

3. The only thing I miss about military life is seeing the men in uniforms. I love a man in camouflage, boots, full "battle rattle" carrying an M4 (Ideally an M240). Don't like war movies, so much, though.

4. Even when me and the Mister had jobs, we have never owned more than one vehicle.

5. I have murdered a cow. humanely though, don't worry.

Happy Birthday, Pictherday! I remember 30. Somewhat. :)

1. I have a degree in journalism and, just before I graduated, I realized I didn't love it as much as I thought and quit the newspaper I worked for to write freelance.

2. I was a dietary counselor for a year and ended up very sick on their diet. Lost a gallbladder and had a miscarriage due to the lack of calories and fat they made me eat. They went out of business but I still feel guilty counseling people to eat the way I was taught by the center. It was called The Diet Center (Catchy, huh?)

3. The first time I met the man who would become my husband, I thought he was hot but way too wild for me. I stiffed him on our first date and made him stand in the rain waiting for me and I never showed up. For some reason, he called me again anyway and well...here we are.

4. Believe it or not, I'm a gadget geek. I have more gadgets than most would believe. I love the latest technology but never fully immerse myself into it so everything I have that's a bit complicated only gets kind of used.

5. I invest in cheap stock based on the letters of the stock. For instance LUV which is an airline. I invested in it a month before 9/11. That didn't work out well. I also bought DX (A wrestling group's name) which bombed and WWE stock which is wavering. I need to NOT buy based on letters, eh?

1. I was in a hold up at KMart and had to get on the floor face down. The robbers fired gunshots. I was on the news after.

2. I once got stuck in the old elevator in my office building and, bored and trying not to panic, I put on red lipstick and left lip prints on the mirror on the back wall. Several times. When the door opened, I was in mid kiss and there were several firemen and the building owner looking at me.

3. I hate when people hang up without saying goodbye. I will call them back and tell them so.

4. I'm extremely overprotective of my sons who are 19 and 23. I still wish I knew where they were and what they were doing to be sure they are OK. So I call or text. They hate it.

Wow, Buggy! You and I would probably get along pretty well except for item # 4.

1. I'm a a "roach-a-phobe." I hate roaches with a passion, If I see one, even on its back doing the "dying roach" thang, I get my Ortho Home Defense spray and fumigate the house.

2. I used to love, love, love Christmas. Loved it. Used to sit and stare at the Christmas tree and the lights till "the cows came home" when Mom set it up. But sometime during my high school years I soured on the holidays. Maybe it was all the mall-hopping or maybe it was my slightly dysfunctional family (I don't get along well with my sister), but I just became very indifferent about the gift-buying and the gift-returning.

3. I keep, or try to, most of the books I buy or get as presents. I really should invest in an Amazon Kindle for myself, but I can't afford one in 2009....Mom has hers, though!

4. I am a huge Indiana Jones fan, but I don't have that many Indiana Jones collectibles. I've got the movies, the Young Indiana Jones DVD sets, the four novelizations and two soundtracks...plus the hat, of course.

5. I have yet to do a Beauty/Skin Care Products review here. Must get on it soon.....

1. I am a total germophobe. It's like What About Bob at our house. All. The. Time. My poor husband. LOL

2. I am totally addicted to 3 things: candles, lip balm, and LUSH. I find them all realllllly hard to resist.

3. I hate winter and winter holidays. I love fall and Halloween and the summer holidays. But after Halloween is over I get super depressed until spring. I think it's all the gift buying and family stress that just gets to me in November & December and that my family still insists on celebrating all the birthdays and they all fall between November - February.

4. I almost never save books. As soon as I finish reading them I put them in a pile to take to the used book store or to my library for the book sale.

5. I don't really like to travel. I mean, I do love to see other places, but the getting there part is stressful for me. By the time I get someplace I'm all worn out and need the rest of the day to rest and calm down.

I MUST let the house phone or my cell phone ring at least twice before I'll answer it, even if I know who it is.
I can't go to bed without flossing my teeth, I won't sleep because of it.
The thought of touching raw poultry gives me the creeps, but I know I have to do it so I bite the bullet, I like chicken and turkey too much not to lol.
I have a collection of over 500 Christmas ornaments, both new and vintage, my husband is about to divorce me if I buy another piece. What can I say, I love a different look to the tree every year ;)
I love to make homemade ice cream.

2. I am totally addicted to the internet. The minute I get home from a vacation, the first thing I do is check my e-mail. I do a TON of online shopping, play games, read news and it's my main mode of communication.

3. I'm not a fan of Elvis, but the fastest book I ever read was Elvis and Me by Priscilla Presley. I read it in 24 hours. It was a page-turner!

4. I collect cook books and lip balms. I can't have enough of either. I currently own 14 different lip balms. No matter how many I have, if I find a new one I want, it goes in the "bowl". I have a bowl of lip balms on my dresser! Told you I was addicted!

My pasta always needs more sauce, my jalapeno poppers have to have a ton of ranch, my buffalo wings need tons of wing sauce, etc...one of the only exceptions is mayo and mustard. I CANNOT have mayo or mustard squirting out of my sandwich.

1. I wasn't exactly thrilled about turning 30, either, but I saw Groundhog Day on the day my best friends and I celebrated the occasion. I was fairly content, except in one particular area of life.

2. I, too, am "hooked" on the Internet. When my computers or modems have "died" in the past or hurricanes knock out power for more than a week, I've had Internet withdrawal pains.

3. The fastest time that I've read a book is one day, too. I read the James Kahn novelization of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in 20 hours. It was a Saturday and I was younger then, too!!

4. I collect Star Wars soundtrack albums. I've owned the Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back soundtracks in almost every format except mp3s, and I've bought every re-release except the mucho expensive 30th Anniversary set.

5. I have to have at least two cups of coffee (milk, two sugars) a day or else I'm not a happy camper, er reviewer.

1. Tragically, I am going to be 30 in two weeks. I am totally depressed about it, but for some reason I want the world to know.

2. I am totally addicted to the internet. The minute I get home from a vacation, the first thing I do is check my e-mail. I do a TON of online shopping, play games, read news and it's my main mode of communication.

2. On my wall I have a set of promotional posters about the Space Shuttle that date back to the pre-1981 inaugural launch. One is a full color painting done in late 1970s style, the others, which are framed, show each major step in a typical Shuttle flight, starting at lift-off and ending with a landing at Cape Canaveral. Sadly, the shuttle depicted is the Columbia, which broke up on re-entry in 2003.

I lost my first tooth in the 3rd grade. We were at the movies watching Sleeping Beauty and my tooth fell into the bucket of popcorn.
I still have one of my 12-year molars.
I wore braces as an adult; not to straighten my teeth but to correct a cross bite that was the result of TMJ.
I ate my first slice of pizza, taco and corn dog when I got in high school and they were served at youth group activities. This stuff was forbidden in my home.

1. I read magazines from back to front. I will start at the back and flip forward. if I see a story I want to read, I will then go to the first page and read it correctly but in general, I tend to always start a magazine at the back.

2. I am the fooseball queen of the word. When I was a teen, I would whip everyone's butts. Always. I have never lost my ability to play even though I rarely do now. If there is a fooseball table somewhere, watch out. I will play and I WILL WIN. It's amazing how I can still have that skill after so many years but I'm warnin' ya, don't challenge me in fooseball!

3. I often feel the need to moderate or step in when people are upset or arguing. This stems from my childhood when I was ALWAYS stepping in between my parents. I still do the same thing whether it is on real life or online. I seem to be the one who always calls for unity or moderation. I strongly feel there is no need to argue over things when discussing respectably works better.

4. I am never content with what I have achieved and I probably never will be. I tend to downplay my achievements and keep searching for things I can do to feel like I accomplished something. I'm working in changing this thought pattern.

5. I hate to throw away big prescription bottles. Little ones can go but the big ones could hold ... something. Money, pins, I don't know. I have one now that I am eying and I WILL throw it out. But I will feel bad about it. lol.

1. I did not become a Star Trek fan until I watched - on opening night - Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Even then, it took me some time to get used to the Original Series' low budget, Pop 1960s look and focus on the stories and characters.

2. I have been a personal computer owner since 1987; my first home computer was an Apple IIe and it was a gift from my late father's brother. I didn't get Internet access till 1999.

3. The very first thing I learned to cook was scrambled eggs. I was 11 or 12 and wanted to learn how to do some things on my own, so Mom taught me how to make scrambled eggs.

4. I have never tried the go-to-a-bar-and-pick-up-a-girl thing. First, I don't drink a lot. Second, I don't drive. Third, I'm painfully shy.

5. I wasn't always painfully shy. In fact, at the age of nine, I was downright precocious. My first serious girlfriend...i simply walked up to her during recess, said "I like you," and kissed her.

This is such a fun idea.

#1) I grew up in a very small town in Vt. but I caused a monument to be built in my home town honoring every soldier who had died from our home who lost their lives for their country from WWI to Viet Nam. Sadly they have now had to add Iran & Iraq. I still consider it one of the 5 best things I ever did & it was the first time as an adult that my father was ever proud of me.

#2) I read & talk a lot about classic books, movies & TV. But, behind closed doors - never admitting it - I never miss a chance to watch "Buffy The Vampire Slayer". I fell in love with Spike. I also never miss a day of General Hospital, even if I have to schedule appointments around it.

#3) I love all animals I have dogs cats, a rabbit, a ferret and a horse. While my friends were mooning about rock stars & actors, I became a Secretariat " groupie". I have read every book about him. bought children's books about him for my children & grandchildren, have a huge collection of memorabilia., cried when he was euthanized and still watch his races on youtube once in a while.

#4) I am a member of Mensa but whenever anybody takes a different view of something I question whether I'm wrong.

#5) I have only had a computer for 6 months & have only found sites like this over the past 4 or 5 months. They have opened a whole new world to me.

Here's a few more I thought of just to keep the momentum going:

1 - Almost drowned twice, once in a runout at Galveston and once swimming across the Frio river. It's wierd when you get out of danger after facing near imminent death. What is the proper emotion for that?

2 - Once drove from Taos to Chama on a snow-covered mountain road during a blizzard. Stopped at the information center for directions to some little town. When the ranger (?) found out we had driven over from Taos she looked stunned then asked "Where in Texas are you from?" She explained that only Texans are crazy enough to drive that road in those conditions! "You all think you can just snowplow your way anything through with your front bumper", she lectured us. We kept on going.

3 - I'm not afraid of much but am terribly uneasy in crowded elevators. I usually take the stairs even going up.

4 - Once had a married woman I had dated years before reconnect out of the blue and try to lure me into an affair. That kind of shocked me. I ended it tactfully so no hard feelings. Felt guilty just for taking her calls.

5 - Have seen things in the 21st century that I never thought I would see in my lifetime. September 11th. The floods in Houston during Allison. The damage in Houston and Galveston from Ike. Several horrendous fatality accidents on I-45 between Houston and Madisonville. A SWAT shootout just down the dirt road from us at our country house (didn't end well). Drove past a murder scene Wednesday night complete with yellow tape and tons of police. I've driven past murder scenes before but never at 8pm. It's almost like being trapped in a really strange movie. Hope it gets better soon! What's up with people these days?

2. My daughter was hit by a car going 45mph in FL, and she ended up with a broken ankle and a scare on her forehead. (But I believe she has a closed head injury, doctors say all test are fine..I know my daughter). Mother's worst nightmare her in FL me in MI.

3. My son almost got married this past June, thank God he didn't. She turned out to be "something else" Better before then after the wedding. Things happen for a reason.

1) I took my son to New Orleans on the train when he was 7.

2) I took him on his first plane trip also ~ up to Dallas & back when he was 11. We hung out in the airport, ate pizza & dark choco covered coffee beans (I let him have 2). We played video games & then came back a few hours later. No $$ back then to leave the airport! I miss those $30 round trip adventures!

3) I met Wendy O. Williams, formerly of the Plasmatics. She's gone now.

4) I met Motley Crue when they first started out & came to the radio station I was at at the time to do an interview. We all hung out later & that is all ~ no funny bizness... LOL.

5) And finally, I got to meet the one musician I had wanted to meet all my life back in 1994 right after I bought my house.., Glenn Hughes, formerly of Trapeze & Deep Purple. I have a picture, but it's not digital. I may have to scan that in here! We had the same hair color at the time.

1. My best and favorite subject in school were English and History.

2. I loved horror and comedy as a kid (still do). So, one of my research papers in 12th grade English was on The Marx Brothers and one of my creative writing projects was a goofball short story I called, "Dracula: One More Time".

3. I was stationed in Germany in the mid 80's before the wall came down. Got to go to East Berlin. The caveat was, because we were active military, we had to wear our dress uniform WITHOUT a name tag. The no name tag rule was to keep the Communist propaganda machine from attributing Anti-American actions or dialoag to us in their papers.

4. I also took my then 6 year old daughter on a bus tour from my base in Germany to Paris. They put us in a hotel on the same street as the Moulin Rouge. We went to Versailles's Palace which was packed like sardines with people. I held her hand but somehow, in the crowd, we got separated. For 15 long, horrifying minutes I waited at the only exit for her and sure enough some nice old German couple lead her out to me. That was the longest 15 minutes of my life. If you had seen the place you would understand how pointless it would have been for me try and search for her. A situation that could have gone very badly turned out okay.

1. I played Spin the Bottle only one time in my life; it was at my friend Betsy's 18th birthday party. I ended up kissing the birthday girl twice and my ex-girlfriend - yes, she was my ex then, too - three times. It was fun, though!

2. I'm pretty good academically at most topics except math.

3. I wrote my first stories when I was 10, wrote my first school paper article at 17 even though i was not on the staff, then wrote my first review a few months later but as a journalism student.

4. When I was my college paper's first foreign correspondent in 1988, I sent back to the States a total of six articles during my three months in Seville, Spain. Unfortunately, because of the slowness of the mail between Europe and the U.S. (this was before e-mail and the Internet were widely available), only one of them was published before the semester ended and we returned home. The rest arrived all at once in the same envelope (I mailed it on the 13th of December and I picked it up at the campus mailroom in early January of 1989...talk about a Twilight Zone moment...) There was some discussion as to whether or not the ones which were published during the Winter Term should bear the dateline SEVILLE, Spain, but our faculty advisor said that I'd written them there and sent them in good faith, so the dateline stayed.

5. I once had the unhappy experience of having a Palmetto bug crawl up and down my leg during first period English in ninth grade. Not fun.

1) I was the first chick on rock radio, 99.5 KISS here in S.A. I was the intern "token" girl and worked for free breakfasts & free rock concert tickets. I then worked there two more times for real money - for a total of 3 times, 1978, 1982 & 1986. I then worked for so many stations that I forget all the call letters. I never worked country or jazz stations, although they made me start a show here that is still airing called "Sunday Morning Jazz". I cried every Sunday morning I did it...lol.

2) My son was born butt breach at 8lbs., 5 1/2 ounces. I smoked cigarettes while I was pregnant, just not as much as I do now. Had I stopped then, I believe I would have had a 12 lb. giant baby. He was born perfectly healthy, although 3 weeks past the due date.

3) I'm 3 years older than my husband. This is the first marriage for us both.

4) I mow my own yard and grill my own food. Hubs knows he can't touch my mower or my grill.

5) I'm steadfastly independent and probably should never be married LOL. I've been on my own since the week before my 17th birthday and lived alone with my cat until I was 22 and had my son. I never had a roomate except for pets, my son and my husband. We are all hard-headed as all get-out!

1. In 6th Grade someone brought the LP of the soundtrack to the film version of Man of La Mancha to school and I just couldn't get enough of it. I'd sneak a listen every chance I got.

2. I worked as an ophthalmic tech for 12 years both military and civilian. This weekend I had an eye problem of my own for the very first time.

3. I was part of the Baptist Student Union Chior at Carson-Newman College in 1975-76. We sang at malls and churches a lot. I remember our chior director, Denny, taught us to sing the Greater Doxology correctly by having us pronounce Excelsis as "Egg Shellsis"

4. I like musicals, too. One of the first movie musicals I loved was Brigadoon.

5. I have an almost inerrant sense of direction. Blindfold me, take me somewhere and make me drive back and I can pretty well do it. Too bad I can't market that.

4. Have a knack for finding things wherever I am. Old coins, flint tools, wild animal skulls, etc. Can find sand dollars at night.

Hey! That's neat! A singer and a dancer!

I used to sing - I may have mentioned this in a previous "five random facts" posting - in my school choirs, with one stint taking place in sixth grade (when that level was still in elementary school) and then from 10th to 12th grade. I suppose I could have tried out for my junior high chorus, but my voice was in that boy-to-teen cracking stage and I became too self-conscious to sing in public.)

Hi, everyone! Been here for awhile, just don't post in discussions much. Plan to change that. So here are my random facts:

1) I am EXTREMELY sensitive to smell. I can't be around anyone who wears too much perfume or has bad BO. I won't kiss my husband if his breath smells at all - I know it sounds awful...but I just can't help it.

2) I almost became a novelist. I won several awards in high school and in college. Now I'm going to school for nursing!

3) I agree with the other person who said that they like animals more than most people! What's weird is that I'm great with people if it's my job (I was a customer service rep for 6 yrs!) but after all the crap that I've had to deal with, I just don't like many people. While watching a movie, I'll cry more if an animal is hurt (or a small child) than if an adult person is hurt.

4) I'm a big advocate for children. I love my daughter so much that I can't imagine why someone would hurt a child - mentally or physically. If I were rich, I would build homes for abused and abandoned children - like orphanages, but not really. They would get everything they needed - especially love and care.

5) I HATE SPIDERS! It's a fear that is truly irrational - because I'm not merely afraid of them, I'm terrified of them. I avoid certain places where they might be hiding. I have my apartment treated specifically for spiders every so often. My husband says I have "spidey sense" because I seem to find them in a room before anyone else - purely from being overly observant. People say to let them be because they kill the other bugs. I would rather have the other bugs than spiders! Makes me itch just thinking about it!

1. When I auditioned for chorus in sixth grade at my elementary, I sang "Yellow Submarine" by The Beatles. When I auditioned for my high school chorus (men's ensemble), I chose "Ben" by Michael Jackson.

2. I didn't like Broadway musicals until after I signed up for the men's ensemble in 10th grade. After practicing "Gee, Officer Krupke" (West Side Story) and "There Is Nothing Like a Dame" (South Pacific) and actually singing them in concert, I changed my tune, so to speak.

3. I have, on occasion, watched a movie solely because John Williams scored it. The best? "Superman: The Movie." The worst? "Jaws 2."

4. I once attempted to take piano lessons.

5. I can't sight-read music, yet I earned As during my three years in men's chorus and mixed chorus. My teacher said I had a good ear and a nice voice.

1. I've bought almost every official recording of the original soundtrack from Star Wars - Episode IV: The Empire Strikes Back and its two Classic Trilogy Sequels. This includes the 1977, 1980 and 1983 albums, their 1993 Soundtrack Anthology restorations, their 1997 Special Edition "complete score" updates, and the 2004 Sony Classical/Sony Soundtrax DVD companion reissues of the Special Edition albums. The only re-issue set I have not bought is 2007's 30th Anniversary set, which includes the albums of the Prequel Trilogy.

2. My favorite computer game ever is Sid Meier's Civilization. I've owned most of the officially-sanctioned editions, but I have never dared to play the game at its toughest levels.

3. My favorite musical genre is classical music, followed closely by its offspring, the symphonic film score.

4. I've traveled to nearly 50 cities in three continents - North America, South America and Europe.

5. My biggest ambition in life in my 40s is pretty much the same as mine when I was 14: write either a novel or a screenplay.

It was fun coming up with these last night, so here's another batch.

1) We are still watching our 1988, 26-inch console TV. It's our main TV that the satellite, DVR and DVD/VCR player are hooked up to.

2) I have dysautonomia/chronic fatigue, but firing the medical world and turning to natural and alternative health has given me back my life. I still don't have "normal" health, but I work a full-time and two part-time jobs plus play occasional piano and harp gigs. I so appreciate the progress I've made over the past few years!

3) I'm very happily childless by choice. My husband has 2 sons (and now 5 grandkids) but I never had to raise his kids.

4) I do not have a domestic cell in my body. I only do what I have to do to get by - don't like cooking, cleaning, gardening, decorating, sewing, entertaining, etc. Maybe that's why I never wanted kids!

5) I am the same size as I was in high school 30 years ago: 5' 3" and 96 lbs. What's different now is I have a great tan but also more than my share of gray hair (that I don't even try to cover up)!

Fear of Snakes: Bit by the same snake twice last summer; remember?

Fear of spiders: Got a Granddaddy Long Leg stuck in my ear when I was in grade school. Don't even ask me how to explain that!

Fear of people (REALLY)-stalked for 3 years by a sociopath and attacked and left for dead. And I'm an incest survivor, need I say more.

But through it all I hold to this one truth: Life is hard but God is good!!

2. The first time I left home without my parents was when I was three years old. My parents freaked out for hours, but I just wanted to go find some swings.

4. The first R-rated movie I saw in the theatres was "Stripes." I was 8 yrs old. My dad took me and I didn't stop saying "das da fac, Jack!" for months.

5. My first job was when I was 11 yrs old. I spent hours sitting at a table scraping the seams off "green" pottery so they wouldn't show after it was fired. The hardest ones were the Three Wise Men. I often popped their heads off.

2. First crush I had was on a girl in my third grade class at Coral Park Elementary. Her name was Cheryl Thigpen.

3. First time I traveled by plane alone was in 1974. I flew from Miami to Bogota to spend summer break with my grandparents. I was 11.

4. First time I went to New York City was in 1986. I was attending the eighth Columbia Scholastic Press Convention as part of my campus newspaper's staff.

5. First time I traveled by sea...the ship caught fire just before we docked. Two people died and quite a few were injured.

2. My first car was a 1959 VW Beetle. My older brother Bill wrecked it.

3. My first guitar was a Sears Sivertone acoustic that my mother bought for $25. It had a crack in the side, so I borrowed a wood clamp from the high school shop, squirted some glue in the crack, and the guitar turned out to be a good beginner's instrument.

4. I was 19 years old before I got further west than Buffalo, NY.

5. I bought my first house when I was 26. It was a wreck, but my wife and I slowly fixed it up, and it was MUCH better when we sold it.

Firsts, huh? Hmm....

1. I was first published in a major national magazine at age 19 when I submitted a fiction story that Woman's World thought was true. I had to beg my sister's family to go along with it and the mag photographers came to my sister's home and took pics of her family going through the rough time they didn't know they were going through. Ha! I got a four page spread and had to pay my sister $100.

2. I first watched pro wrestling in 1988 when my then 3 year old son was watching a morning recap. It took me 4 months to get hooked and him 4 months to move on to cartoons.

3, I first flew in a plane in 1999. I swore I would NEVER fly but the magazine I edited was paying for my whole family (sisters and their families plus my sister in law and her sister!) to go on a cruise to the Bahamas with the wrestlers. I didn't want to do it but had a very calm flight and never once got nervous. I later found out we had bad turbulence and everyone else was scared to death. Who knew?

4. I wrote my first story at age 4. I started my first diary at age 11 and still have it. I lied in it and made my life MUCH more fun than it was. Not surr who I was lying TO since it was a private dairy.

5. The first movie that scared me so much that I couldn't sleep was "The Birds". I watched it with my cousins and my brother and it terrified me. I was really young and should never have watched it. I am STILL afraid when I see flocks of birds or when one flies too close to me. One hit the window of an insurance company I was at recently and I imagined they would attack me when I left the building.

They didn't.

But I know they were considering it!

FWIW, the Webster's II New College Dictionary on my desk defines "misanthrope" as: "hating mankind; one who detests or distrusts humankind." There's no mention of milder definitions such as cynical or skeptical. I might use misanthrope to describe a grouchy recluse or a hermit, but wouldn't use the word for someone who is a cynic. The comedian Dennis Miller is a cynic and he's often skeptical, but I wouldn't call him a misanthrope.

That's just me, though... feel free to use the words you find comfortable.

I guess I was using it, the way some people use the word "antisocial," which is a personality disorder most commonly used to describe serial killers and those who have no feelings of remorse for crimes against other persons, not someone who is unfriendly.

According to the Thesaurus, other definitions for "misanthrope" are "cynic", "doubter", and "skeptic". I think this is what most people mean when they call themselves a "misanthrope".

Well, everyone else is chiming in two or three times, so, me, too!

1. I've watched the entire Lord of the Rings Triolgy in one sitting THREE times.

2. My first job paying at least minimum wage was in 1973 as a bagger for Red Food Stores. I made $1.65 an hour. Now, 35 years later, I work for them again, except now they are called Bi Lo and I'm full time with them in management.

3. As a kid, my favorite movies were horror movies, specifically the old Hammer Studio Dracula movies with Christopher Lee.

4. In 1993 I spent 6 weeks in South Korea as part of a training exercise. The little town outside the base actually had a little bar that played American country music. We spent many a night there, drinking Sojou. Don't ask what that is. I have no idea. I don't think the people who make it do, either. But it will get you REALLY drunk, and fast.

5. I met Johnny and June Carter Cash while working as a night desk clerk at the Sheraton Motor in just off I-75 in Flint, MI in 1976. I checked them in. Nice, nice people.

I have a really good friend whose family lives in Ft. Payne, AL, home of the Alabama guys. They are all big sponsors and supporters of the Down Syndromes Foundation in Dekalb County and Janet's cousin has DS so every year she goes to the big event. I was vacationing there with Janet and her family and we were invited to Randy Owens house! His wife gave us a tour and I got to see a lot of family photos. His daughters were beauty pageant contestants. It was Christmastime and they entertained us with holiday foods and hot cocoa and we sat in family room with one of the most beautifully decorated Christmas trees I have ever seen in a home. Then he gave me a 24k Alabama Christmas ornament and an autographed Christmas CD. Every year when I put the ornament on my tree I remember that special day.

I lived in Savannah, GA for 25 years. I loved going to the St. Patrick's Parades. My dad's office was on one of the squares so we had a good view of the parade. Rain or shine we always went to the parade.
My first concert was in the 80's, an Alabama concert, at the Savannah Civic Center. I love that country band. We had great seats. I think we were on the 5th row in the middle. I also went to an Air Supply concert. A friend of mine from HS talked me into going to a heavy metal concert. My parents agreed I could go. It was a Motley Crue/Guns N Roses concert. Boy, that was a wild concert. The one thing I remember is all the drinking and screaming girls. This was definitely a different atmosphere from the other concerts I attended.
I mailed Oprah my story of living with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) along with others living with it. We are hoping Oprah will do a show on CRPS and get the word out there that CRPS is a real illness. CRPS is a chronic nerve pain disorder. I was born in Orlando, FL the year Disneyworld opened. I was reading some history on the Disneyworld website one day and came across that fact. I was born in April and Disneyworld opened in October.

I was the lead singer of an all girl punk band in NYC. Now, I live in PA.

I once worked as a phone psychic while in the band. YES! They are SCAMS!
I once was punk, but my husband says I'm now more hippie! ha!

1. I learned WordPerfect when one had to operate a couple of floppy discs that you changed in out of the slot to boot it up and later to do spell check. I am a very fast typist and loved the template approach to all the functions-- most of which I memorized. I hated having to stop tying and use the mouse when I used M.S. Word and other programs or a MAC. I knew most of the basic MSDOS commands and was perfectly happy for many years with a basic computer. I miss how the old WordPerfect worked, fell out of using it completely several years ago.

2. I jumped from an airplane twice. I have a fear of heights (still do), and felt I needed to do it.

3. I had lunch with Mae West many years ago, and visited her at her Ravenswood Apartment a couple years before she died.

4. I met Groucho at a film screening and became friends with him in the last years of his life.

5. I worked for a West Coast Fashion Newspaper and magazine, became their Textile editor (as well as a general reporter) and started a very popular film review column for them (back in very early 80s!!!)

Fine, I have jump in ONCE AGAIN, cause you all made me think of somethings....

1. My first computer was bought at the BX at Zwiebrucken Air Base, Germany. It was a Commodore 64 and I paid $500 for it. Yep, $500 for a PC with NO hard drive and a whopping 64K RAM.

2. I tell everyone I quit smoking when I was 12. They laugh and it's funny. It's also true.

3. As a kid I loved deep fried shrimp. Then one day I at 21 of the things and got sick. Never tasted another shrimp again.

4. When I was 19 and newly married and VERY, VERY broke, we got scammed by one of those ads in the paper that claimed we could make a bundle stuffing envelopes. Luckily I was only out $6.

5. When I was an Air Force cop, I drew my weapon (Baretta 9MM) only once while on duty. We were searching an off-base building in Germany a patrol found insecure. The terrorist cell The Red Army Faction was very active in Germany in those days and one of them had been seen in the area with in the past few days. Fortunately, we did not run into him that night. But we searched that building with our weapons drawn.

Okay, some recent posts made me think of some more things to post about myself:

1. My first computer (in 1980) was an Atari 800. (That was real computer, not a video game console.)

2. For years, I was a staunch Atari computer fanatic, finally getting my first PC in 1992... after I left my job at IBM!

3. I never wanted to have children. I had a lot to do with raising my two younger brothers and that was all the child rearing I ever wanted to do.

4. I generally don't like fish but I love a good tuna sandwich.

5. I don't like the taste of alcoholic drinks (including beer and wine) and have never been drunk. I have never smoked tobacco -- or marijuana, for that matter.

1. I was a fan of NASCAR Winston Cup before it became mainstream. I have seen races in Martinsville, Bristol, Dover, Loudon (including the inugural), Pocono, ans Sear's Point. I lost interest when it became "cool" so I don't even know if they race there anymore!

2. I got Jeff Gordon's autograph when he was a rookie in Busch Grand Nationals. He signed my pit pass and I still don't know what to do with it. We talked for a while, too.

3. I love salt water fishing, but am not near an ocean.

4. Everyone forgot my 21st birthday (except me)

5. I put mayonnaise on my hot dogs

6. When I was 19, a psychic scammed $800 out of me and I had to put my tuition on a credit card! Embarassing!

1. My first computer was a tandy 5000 and I became so obsessed with writing a kaliedoscope program in BASIC that I hogged the TV for hours on end and made my family mad! When I finished it, I played it three times and never looked at it or programmed anything else ever again.

2. People think I never finish anything, but I learn things and get bored with them very quickly.

3. When I got my first apartment, I couldn't afford the heat. Three New England winters at 45 degrees and the pipes didn't burst!

4. I worked at the same Dunkin' Donuts for six years, through high school and college. Two color schemes, two mascots, the switch to "no cholesterol" donuts, $1.59 dozens, the debut of flavored coffees, and five different styles of uniform but no drive-thru.

5. I once dated the assistant lion tamer at the Shrine Circus for a bit. It had to be my most novel relationship, because when he used the term: "when I get my act together..." he was being totally literal so I cracked up every time, and I got to pet a white tiger.

I'm also a neat freak. I iron every day, I dont like wrinkled clothes so just about everything is ironed before it's put away. My kids have grown up this way and none of them will wear a t shrit or a pair of jeans unless it's been ironed first.

I keep the closets neat too. My littlest is 7 and he is a member of the up and coming neat freaks of his generation he keeps his room clean and likes his pj's ironed and folded in a special way. He also doesn't like driving around in a dirty car. My daughter on the other hand is a bit of a slob at home but she keeps her dorm very neat.

I also keep my kitchen organized. I like everything in it's place and easy to use.

Back for another 5!

Roadtesting the cruiser on a 1,000 mile round trip next week. I haven't done one of these in about 20 years so it'll be interesting to see how my ancient body holds up!
My first concert was an outdoor festival deal back in '78 outside of Reston, Oregon called the Reston Jam. It was also one of the few times in my life that I dropped acid. Made for a very interesting evening!
I didn't get to play sports in high school because my right kneecap was blown off by a 7.5mm bullet early on in my freshman year. Before that I was a pretty fair wide-out.
Being chased by a bear in the Oregon rainforest isn't as much fun as you might think.
Neither is coming around a tight, blind left hand turn on a twisty mountain road at night on your motorcycle and finding a herd of elk scattered across both lanes.

My first concert I attended at the Sailors Memorial Auditorium in Chattanooga was the Bill & Gloria Gaither and Homecoming friends and Howard and Vestal Goodman were present! I sure do miss them and Rex Nelon, Glen Payne and George Younce. I later went to see Steve Green, Michael Card, 4-Him, and Kathy Troccoli. I just realized that every time I went to the Sailors Mem. Aud. it was to see a gospel concert!
I grew up behind a large shopping center (in walking distance) that had a Winn-Dixie, Revco, and TruValue. Do you remember those stores?
My first place of employment was at a bowling alley after I graduated from high school. The company didn't have me on payroll. They paid me cash weekly because they didn't believe I was old enough to file taxes.
My first childhood crush was in the 4th grade. I would later date him off and on for 16 years before he married another girl from my church.
The last time I went to a drive-in movie I saw 9 to 5 with Dolly Parton and a horror flick was the second feature.

I'm clinically diagnosed OCD and for me that means the following:

My clothes in closet are organized first by the length of the garment and then the length of the sleeves. Long dresses first with long sleeves, short sleeves and no sleeves and so on.
After length my clothes are lined up by colors according to ROY G BIV.
Skirts are also organized by length and then patterns, denim, khaki and other solids.
Clothes in drawers are also organized by colors, stripes and patterns as well as lingerie and sock drawers.
I fold everything in 3s: t-shirts, shirts, panties, towels, etc.

Try being the mother of a child who started these compulsions when she was 6 or 7-years-old! That was my mother's task that beset her because for every bit the neat freak I was, she wasn't.

When I sleep I curl up tight in the fetal position and the only part of the bed that gets messed up is on the very edge where I am laying. Oh, I also sleep with four large pillows and one travel pillow.
I didn't care to watch The Notebook during all its hype but then I saw a part of it on cable, bought the DVD, and became addicted to it!
I was a college cheerleader (soccer) for 2 years and I have been dancing since I was 3. I am currently doing classical ballet and lyrical jazz for a production in July.
I love video games and am currently addicted to a PC game: Hidden Secrets: The Nightmare. Krista, I promise there is a review with pics coming ;+)
I am also trying to save up for a laptop so that I can be online while in front of the TV. Right now I have to come into my study to use my desktop.

I recently won a Twilight movie contest--some trivia contest online. I got the board game, all four books, 2 t-shirts, and a reloadable gift card to Blockbuster w/pics of Bella and Edward.

I am back in the dance studio and will be in the production of Swan Princess in July.

1. I won many medals and awards for high diving as a teen and, after one slight diving mishap, I never dove again and never will.

2. I was told I would be deaf before age 35 and, at almost 45, so far I can still talk on the phone, watch TV, and have conversations with no hearing aids. I do have them though and wear them for better clarity. I am very lucky!

3. I feel sorry for stuffed animals and other things that are broken. I have bought stuffed animals without eyes and little animal statues missing tails because no one else wanted them and I felt bad for them. Yeah...random and a tad crazy.

4. I would live in a house with 100 animals if I could. Dogs, cats, birds, chickens, whatever. Just no mice, tyvm.

5. I could live the rest of my life without eating ketchup and actually probably will. I hate it.

I just bought my first Build-A-Bear dog. Actually, it is a Jack Russell Terrier dog. Its name is Nicholas just like my REAL Jack Russell. A $1 is donated to the Build-A-Bear Workshop Bear Hugs Foundation to support animal shelters, pet rescue, and rehab organizations.
I collect Carousel Horses. I have several 4-horse carousels and 5-horse carousels. Then, I have a couple single horses.
I collect Jack Russell Terrier statues and figurines.
I still have my first babydoll an "Adoption Doll". Her name is Holly and she has yellow hair. I used to even by baby clothes for her.
I have cross-stitched (20x30) two Carousel pictures and a dolphin picture. It probably six months to finish all of them. I cross-stitch Christmas ornaments throughout the year and then sell them on Etsy.

1. I have a huge collection of beanie babies, teenie beanies, and buddies.........hundreds!!!

2. I won a Nintendo Wii as a door prize last year at a company function. I picked the envelope and had to read what the prize was. Since knowing nothing about that thing.... I said " It says Nintendo W i i ". They chuckled and then explained to me what it was and what it did. One month later I sold it on Ebay and got big bucks for it. I could always use the money more than I would use that thing! ha ha

3. I still have my 1st pair of baby shoes which were bronzed years ago. Trust me, they are antiques!!

4. I tend to buy too many little bath and kitchen rugs......got tons of them in the house, but most of them are in the attic and the closets.

5. I can grow an ivy plant for years. I had 3 inside plants that were each 14 years old, but give me one cactus and it will be dead in 2 weeks.

3. I am left-eye, right hand dominant. Which is pretty rare, and not helpful when I try to play first-person shooting video games.

4. I sleep better during the day than at night. It often lends itself (too-often) to late nights during the week, and long naps on the weekend.

5. I am a speed-reader.

4. I am "allergic" to cold weather, in a sense. My nose runs incessantly when the mercury drops and I lose both my sense of taste and smell (why do you think I moved to Houston?). Not good for someone who likes to evaluate beer and other food and drink.

I didn't start drinking coffee until 1987. Now I usually drink 2 cups (black - no sugar) on weekday mornings, maybe a cup on a weekend if I feel like makin' it.
Contrary to popular belief, I drink very little alcohol these days. From '77 until '97, however, was a completely different story.
I've weighed about the same (165 - 175) since 1979. Currently weighing in at 170.
I can't recall ever planning anything in my life. I've always been a "fly by the seat of yer pants" kinda guy.
I used to spend 4-5 hours a day, 6 days a week standing on a 18" wide 6' long "diving board" 55' in the air, with a belt around my waist cabled to a metal hand rail behind me while leaning out over the brink and slamming 60' foot lengths of 2 7/8" ID steel tubing into big steel elevator clamps that were moving upward at a fairly high rate of speed over and over and over.

I am the same way about the mixing of food. Growing up my mother had to use divider plates with both my sister and me because we were so adamant about foods not touching. We used those divider plates all through high school until one of them broke and we fought over whose went in the trash.

Does your husband have a difficult time color coordinating his wardrobe?

I now have a fear of heights but could dive off a 20ft. board into a diving well when in college.

I taught 4-year-olds for 3 1/2 years.

I won't eat any kind of cheese that is white--it has to be cheddar or American.

2. I heard that you should not put a TV in the bedroom if you are married. Therapist say only do two things in the bedroom with your partner (sleep & sex). I don't have a TV in my bedroom but have been debating getting one because it seems I sleep really good when I fall asleep with the TV going. I'm single and there's nothing else going on in MY bedroom ;+)

3. I love the Stargazer lilies and Petunias.

4. As a child I loved Donnie Osmond, Ralph Macchio, and Scott Baio. I watched "Charles In Charge" and always wanted him to be my babysitter ;+) and I always wanted Michael Landon to be my "pa."

5. I prefer using the teaspoons and salad forks over the reg. sized utensils. My friends love that because when entertaining many times they will run out of utensils so it's nice to be able to give someone the smaller ones without being embarrassed.

I've never turned my dishwasher on. I sometimes use it to store stuff in if I need extra space for a short time; such as the paper products for the family Christmas party.
My ring finger is a size 4.
I had my ears pierced in 6, 9, 12th and junior year of college and then the top pierced during graduate school. I wore three sets and the top one for a few years but now I only wear one pair. They sets were tiny diamonds, not a bunch of hoops or large gawdy things.
I've always wanted a rose or heart tatoo on my shoulder blade or ankle but have a fear of receiving contaminated ink or an infected needle. I know they are safe but I still have that fear.
Sometimes when I'm in a bikini at my brother's pool or at the beach I will wear a fake belly ring. I have such a flat, washboard stomach that it looks pretty cool but I would never get it pierced.

Some jobs I've had: Milkman's grunt laborer (which is to say that I got the dubious honor of running back and forth from the truck to the houses carrying bottles of milk and other assorted dairy items. I was 8 when I landed that job.....), paper boy, carpenter's apprentice, electrician's apprentice, dishwasher, logger, ranch hand, guitar tutor, park caretaker, roustabout, roughneck, ski lift assembly line grunt, bass guitarist, gas jockey, fuel dock assistant manager, marina maintenence, rhythm guitarist, drummer, warehouse grunt laborer, painter, computer hardware tech, service & production department manager.
There are currently 7 computers in use at my house: 4 PCs and 3 notebooks.

I have a niece that is the spitting image of me as a child
My best friend's youngest daughter looks more like me than my biological sister does.
Four children in my family and I was the only one who inherited my Daddy's Cherokee features (dark hair, dark eyes, high cheekbones and Daddy says the temper of a chief). The other children all have light hair and skin and green eyes.
In 2009 my Christian school's high school graduation will be on Friday, May 29th. When I graduated from that school it was also on Friday, May 29th.
My parents, my sister and one brother were all married on their birthdays. My oldest brother was married a day before his birthday! I'm just praying that someday I'll get married but I would rather be a June bride.

Hmmm... I'm so random that my whole life could be in this post but...

1.) I read magazines from the back to the front. Always. When I see a story I want to read, I will then go to the beginning and read it.

2.) My 25th marriage anniversary is on Christmas Eve. A quarter of a century with the same jerk...oops guy. lol. I love him. Met him when I was 18!

3) I refuse to eat peas. My father sat me at the table for hours forcing me to eat my peas and I outlasted him. I will NOT eat them but, if they're hidden in soup or something, I will.

4.) I'm going deaf from an inherited hearing condition that robbed my father's hearing at age 23. I am very lucky to have lasted this long with the ability to still hear many things.

5.) I refuse to be sedated for anything. Had kids, teeth pulled, root canal, a colonoscopy, knee surgery (with stuff that numbed the area) and many other things without medication. I'd rather suffer than to have anesthesia or strong pain stuff.

I used to collect the state magnets too! I was trying to piece them together to make a map of the U.S. but as younger children came along they kept on rearranging my magnets. By the time I graduated from high school I had visited and spent at least one night in 29 states and stayed an entire summer in Mexico and Canada.

My best friends are both married with children and grandchildren and are 6 and 15 years older than me. The oldest one is more like a mother to me.
I was born on Mother's Day and my birthday will be on Mother's Day in 2009!
When I was a child I used to love watching our cats and dogs give birth. Now I get grossed out easily and would puke if I witnessed that!
I was on a speed skating team for 11 years and am still the fastest one in the ladies division during the Sunday afternoon session. Yeah, every time I win the race I get a free skate pass ;+)
The first and only time I ever went snow skiing I fell down a mountain and got separated from my youth group for about 4 hours. I was only in the 8th grade and it frightened me so bad that I swore I would never ski again and I haven't. Now when we go to ski resorts I go to the ice rinks and the alpine slides.

I won a poetry contest in the 6th and 7th grade and had both poems printed in the State Newspaper. One I wrote about my father and the other was a Patriotic poem.
I won the school spelling bee and went on to district level in 6th and 7th grade. In 8th grade they asked me not to participate because no one else wanted to compete against me. My parents didn't think that was fair but I understood.
I never had bubble baths until a teacher in my first grade class gave me some for Christmas. My parents thought bubble baths could infect little girls so they never bought the stuff.
I wet my pants in first grade because I didn't know you could get permission to go to the restroom while in class.
I was so advanced in my reading curriculum that in 6th and 7th grade a teacher had to take me to the local high school twice a week so I could get my reading requirements done.

To do the above I purchased PC For Dummies and Windows '98 For Dummies and the rest I just picked up along the way.
I have owned 5 computers since 2000. I alternated between Compaq Presario (Hewlett Packard) and Dell. I didn't do that intentionally that was just the way I got each computer.
My favorite Windows version is XP Professional and I highly dislike Vista.

welcome to this board moviebuff--I haven't seen you around. You did just fine. Some of our board games have more rigid "rules" to keep the game flowing smoothly but this is "come as you are" and share what you want. Back to the game:

I didn't eat meat for 12 years and when I decided to "try" something the first thing I ate was a hotdog.
I've been in my "new" house for 5 years and have never rearranged the furniture; except to move the recliner in the living room during the holidays to put the tree in the windows facing the yard.
I have never had a drink (beer, liquor, that sort of stuff), never smoked and never took an illegal drug.
Twice engaged (different guys) and I called the wedding off both times. Not sure if it is going to be: Third time's a charm or three strikes you're out, hmmm...

I've had Celiac Disease for 6 years now. Celiac Disease is also known as gluten intolerance. I stay away from foods with wheat, rye, barley, and oats in it.
I have partial hearing loss in my right ear due to the flu virus that I had a few years ago.
I was injured in the hospital with an IV needle over 2 years ago.
I have permanent nerve damage in my left foot from the IV needle (see #3).
I have been battling chronic pain since the IV needle incident. I found out a year and half ago that the chronic pain was actually Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

Thanks Gigi. The remodeling is a contributing factor, but I've lived with back pain since '83 (see #5 of my first 5 facts on page 1 of this thread). It comes and goes. Right now it's kinda at the medium pain level and I don't see it diminishing until I'm done with the bathroom. So, when I say "My back hurts" or "My back still hurts" it's kinda like a running gag, joke kinda thing.

Out of five children in my family I was born the smallest. I weighed 4 lbs. even and was only 17 1/2 inches long. I stayed in the hospital for about 6 wks. to get up to 5 lbs. I am still the smallest. I'm 5' 2", maybe 5' 3" and weigh about 89 lbs.
I was born with PKU syndrome--yeah, it's that thing that is on the warning labels of soft drinks.
I had bone cancer for 3 years and am in my third year of remission. Two more years and I will be officially cancer freel Yippee ;+)
I was the first child to be hospitalized after I came home from the hospital. I was 2 and my brothers tried to overdose me on prenatal vitamins. They were only 4 and 5 and thought the vitamins were M&Ms. I was hospitalized for a week.
I was the youngest person my doctor diagnosed with Lupus. I was 16 at the onset and officially diagnosed at age 21. I have Systemic (Lupus) Erythematosus, Peripheral Neuropathy (symptom of the Lupus) and I struggle with anorexia on again off again.

If I don't think about sleep, I could stay up all night and hardly blink.... but if I lay down I could be out in 5 minutes (today is one of those nights!)
I have a blog where I write my daily events, mostly for me - but my memory is so bad sometimes that if I forget to blog for a few days I could completely forget what I did those days!
I can be very proud of some of the things I picked out for our hose - For exampe, I smile every time I look at my cute snowman sitting on a wreath :)
I can look at something every day and think "that's annoying, I should fix it" but then never fix it - My frames on my wall for example, they keep leaning so they aren't straight
I went shopping for xmas presents all day today and hardly remember 1/2 of what I bought - but I do know it was good stuff!

My license expired in May and I just renewed it on the 24th. We have 9 months after the expiration to renew our license without retaking the tests or penalty fees. I didn't know my license expired until I went to write a check at Kohl's and the cashier told me.
I cannot drive a car with a manual gear shift.
I wrecked one of my brother's motorcycle in high school when he was trying to teach me how to drive.
I wrecked my oldest brother's car in college while taking the driving test to get my license. Mike, I was at the Chattanooga DMV and obviously failed that test. The kids in the youth group told my brother to take me to Athens so he did and that is where I got my license ;+)
Since I am on the driving theme: I hit a bunny and a dog in the same week. I then dreamed of hitting an elephant and when I told my best friend about this she said, "Well, your animals are getting bigger so you're either going to hit a deer or a person." I haven't hit another animal since!

BTW--My best friend was with me both times and it was dark and the animals ran out in the road. I was crying hysterically both times and she had to switch seats and get us to her house.

My mom wanted me to be a majorette so I joined the JROTC and twirled a rifle instead.

I was in a public school from 1-11th grade and then I chose to go to a Christian school my senior year. The public school had 457 graduates that year and my graduating class at the Christian school only had 21 ;+}
I was a finalist in the Miss Teen SC pageant when I was 15 but backed out of the state level when I found out I had to wear a swimsuit on stage.
I was the first girl to play on an all boys street hockey team in college. It wasn't forbidden--the girls just didn't want to do it. I was on a speed skating team and knew how to ice-skate so they recruited me. After a successful year 2 more girls joined the next year and I believe they are pretty much co-ed now.
I've been in the same hometown since I was 2; except of course for the 6 years that I lived in TN while in college.
I'm going to be in a Christmas parade on Sunday!! This parade is going to be televised some time after Christmas on a local network. Still debating what to wear.

If you knew me at 25, you probably have no idea where I am now.
When I got a job fixing computers, the total extent of my prior computer experience was making set lists on the bass player's Tandy PC. I told the interviewer that experience didn't matter; if you put something broke in front of me, I'll fix it.
My acoustic guitar is 4 years younger than I am. ('65 Fender King)

Gosh that's all interesting. I guess even here I get a bit of stage fright. That's the reason I have yet to review my DVD and our new TV may wait until next December (:

I still have reviews as drafts. Tomorrow we go to Trader Joe's so that's another draft. : )

Ok here goes...random thoughts at 8:33p.m. (yes I know it show up:) I'm procrastinating...hmm

1. I can be a procrastinator
2. I can be very obsessive compulsive (but not in the clinical way)
3. I've been married to my 2nd husband for almost 25 years.
4. I wish my daughter the doctor would get someone special in her life.
5. I wish my married daughter made us grandparents.

I've only been shot once. Once is enough.
I've been on my own since the age of 16, when my parents moved out.
I've remodeled 6 bathrooms in the past 15 years, which averages out to 1 bathroom every 2 1/2 years since 1993.
My back hurts, and has been hurting since 1983 when I had half a ton of falling iron knock me across the rig floor.

Don't worry about that shirt falling off incident. One time (during the course of a successful weight-loss effort) my SKIRT fell down when I stood up to pray in church. Fortunately, there weren't many people there, I was toward the back (and wearing a coat!) and I managed to snatch the skirt back up before anybody noticed. Alas, I then burst out laughing and I'm sure the poor guy standing next to me is still wondering what I thought was so funny about The Lord's Prayer!

1. I grew up with a disabled father.

2. I did make-up FX in the film industry for a while.

3. I'm a born and raised Cali girl, though I long to move out of state. (I don't get the hype, cause the activities get boring after a whie, a short while for me and I don't want to raise my son here, especially because of the school system.)

4. I hope to successfully sell my arts, handmade items and writing on a regular basis soon. ;o) (It's nice to see we have somethings in common, LadyMagic!)

5. Am quickly realizing that getting involved in the holiday production is inconvenient timing for me and must make a "note to self" to not do so next year.

1. My hair-eye color combo is a double recessive set of genes (red hair, green eyes). Go figure.
2. I've been to 25 of the 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. (This does not include airports. These are states I've actually visited for days at a time.)
3. Kitchen sinks and sponges make me cringe. They are so gross!
4. I've always wanted to be a jockey but I'm too tall (5'9") and heavy.
5. I order Kiddie Cocktails at restaurants more often than I order alcohol. If the waiter or waitress puts 3 or more cherries in the drink, I tip them better than if they only put 1 or 2 cherries in it (of course, they don't know this - too bad for them!).

Okay, this is one I can figure out and jump in on. Here goes:

Normally, I'm not superstitious but sometimes I just have to "knock on wood" and if wood isn't immediately handy, I'll even stand up and walk over to where it is!
I hate washing dishes
I've moved only once in the last 43 years and that was two blocks away.
I won't eat raw oysters and that's THAT!
The tunes from commercials tend to stick in my head -- last night I was singing "Viva Viagra!" as I folded my sheets down in the Laundry Room!

I eat candy in rainbow order (skittles go red-orange-yellow-green-purple) ... mostly b/c I like the red ones the least and the green and purple the best!
I lived at home until my wedding day
I like to read horoscopes - but I only believe them when they are positive!
I think I've seen every episode of the Simpsons - most many times!
