My daughter bought a baby bearded dragon with her own money. He was expensive. We had him for a little less than a year and he got sick. We took him to the vet and he said he needed vitamins. He died anyway. Then a friend gave us an adult bearded dragon. She is great. She is a lot of work though. She needs crickets (about 15) every other day. The need to be dusted with powder if they are from the pet store because commercially raised crickets do no have enough vitamins. She needs meal worms every other day. She needs fresh greens everyday and fresh water. She should be warm,...

Don't forget to see my beardies stories at the bottom of this post after you read the following:
There are so many bearded dragons that never have a chance at living to full life expectancy because their owners are just uneducated. Before you get a dragon, or if you have one and are not sure if your giving him/her the proper care than please take a moment of your time to read this...

Bearded dragons make great pets. They do require a little bit of equipment, which you can pick up in any pet care store. My daughter and i have found that once you learn the proper care for a bearded dragon, they require very liitle effort on your part. We feed him once or twice a week with live crickets and pinkies. we have added the pinkies only recently, as he is almost 1 yr old and just big enough. It got to be that he was eating 4 dozen crickets a week and the pet store suggested pinkies (frozen baby mice). He loves them and they keep him satisfied longer.
He...
read full review »OK I have always been an animal love but up until a few years ago I have only owned fury or feathers friends. This all changed once I started a vet tech program and worked with their reptiles. They had a Beared Dragon who was as sweet as could be. I fell in love and started to research Dragon. I soon found out what great animals Beardies were. My hubby & I started looking into getting one. I found an adorable little guy and with a little begging he came home with me. In April I will have had Gibby for 3 years and I have loved everY minute of it. Beardies are such easy going reptiles. They...
read full review »I got my beardie as a sympathy gift when he was a baby, and he's been the greatest pet. He's calm, and funny, and a great source of conversation for my house guests. I even took him on an HIV/Aids Pet Walk where we won first prize for most unusual pet. He waves and does "push ups" and eats worms and grapes right from my hand. He is very low maintenance, but needs a big habitat to roam around. He scared me the first few winters by going into brumation which is the reptile version of hibernation, but we expect it now and just let him snooze. The added benefit is that my daughter is learning a lot...

Bearded dragons are an easy pet to care for. They are not meant for small children. Bearded dragons love to have attention. They love to be held. Yes, they can be a lap pet. You can even walk them on a leash.
