Baby Trend Flex Lock Review Summary

Being “one of the two car seats that passed the original crash tests at 70 mph,” safety conscience parents consider the Baby Trend Flex Lock Car Seat as one of the safest infant car seats available. Made in trendy, sporty designs, the Flex Lock car seat is especially loved by those with compact cars as the “narrow base is great for fitting a couple car seats into smaller cars.” A preferred feature of the Baby Trend infant seat is the unique design of the carrying handle since “the top is a triangle shape that makes it easier to carry at your side,” although some found it difficult to operate the buttons to move the handle up and down. Designed for infants up to 22 pounds, the five point harness is “easy to tighten,” as well as change its position without rethreading. With a quick snap in or out, the Flex Lock infant car seat is also a great companion to Baby Trend Strollers.

I am a new grandparent and my daughter bought one of these carseats for her new son. Before buying it, she researched many different brands. After using hers, I went and got one for my car . My grandson loves it, fits well in it, and best of all, I feel he is in a seat that has a great safety rating.... review »

This car seat is the absoulute hardest thing to use. In order to put your child in the seat you have to push the big handle back like you do for every car seat, so you would think it wouldn't be that hard but on the Baby Trend Flex lock you have to have pretty strong hands to squezze the handle to release... review »

The Baby Trend car seat has served us very well for the first year of my daughter's life; It is only for rear-facing and is not convertible.  I've never worried about my daughter's safety and the car seat has been very easy to use. There are, however, a couple of drawbacks to the car seat that potential buyers might want to be aware of.

First, the car seat was very easy to install safely. It uses the LATCH system to install and attaches via strong buckles. In addition, when it comes time to remove the car seat base from the car, there is a button much like a seat belt button that releases the buckles...

Bought this for my third child.  Had used a Graco one for the other two.  This is much easier to use.  Have adjusted the straps several times to allow for winter clothes.  Sooooo easy.  With a turn of a button on the back, voila.

Narrow base is great for fitting a couple car seats into smaller cars.  (Pontiac Sunfire with three in the backseat, until we get our van.)

Only negative is the handle buttons are little tricky to push to get it to turn.  Not bad though, once I figured it out the handle turns easily.

Great product!!

I was very excited to get this car seat because it had recieved excellent reviews from Consumer Reports in their crash test ratings. However, the car seat was extremely difficult to install using LATCH. Neither my husband or I get the base to fit tightly in the seat. The LATCH components on both sides broke as we were trying to install it. We then tried to install it with the regular seat belt, but couldn't get a tight fit with that either. A car seat is only supposed to be able to move about one inch from side to side when it is installed correctly, and with LATCH and the seatbelt the base moved...

I absolutely  love the Baby Trend Flex Lock infant car seat.  The handle has a nice triangular shape making it easy to carry.  I also love that you do not have to retread the straps as baby grows.  This is a big plus.  As baby grows you can just turn the knob in the back to the right adjustment.  No special tools required.  I also love the fact that the weight limit is above 20 pounds.  My daughter is 18 months old and weighs right at 21 pounds so she can still fit in this seat.  There are only two things I was not too fond of about this seat.  One is the harness latch between the legs...

I bought this car seat with my first daughter.  I did a ton of research on car seats because not only did I want a car seat that was super safe but also one that had an easy to carry handle.  Evenflo has a handle that is flipped the other direction but that doesnt rate very high.  The traingle shaped handle allows my problematic wrists to hold the car seat a comfortable direction with minimalized pain.  The baby trend car seat with flex lock has a nice padded triange shaped handle that allows me to hold the carseat however is comfortable at that moment.  I love the fabric on mine, it is the...

Baby trend Flex Lock Is a great chair. It is easy to carry and has a lot of cool features.
It is the number one  for safety, in safe car seats. I love the part that go's over the baby head.It is large enough that if I pull it up and put cover on it, no air will get in the back. The handle is very strong. It is very easy to install once you install it the first time.I am confident that we made the right choice with this seat. — I thought that this car seat was a great buy for the price. It is priced under $100, and is one of the 2 car seats that passed the original crash tests at 70 mph

This seat is great very easy to adjust the straps for height changes.  It has a push button for adjusting the straps and a turn knob on the back for making the straps higher when the child grows in length.  Found this very easy to use and absolutely love the features for adusting the straps.  Also is very easy to remove the cover to wash and dry it when it becomes dirty.  Other chairs I have had made it very difficult to remove the cover to clean it and this one makes it very easy to do. I would highly recommend

My baby has always LOVED this seat. He is almost 4months and it has always worked well fir us. The seat is a little on the heavy side but that is the only negative thing I can find with this seat.

I love the car seat for it's safety features.. however it is very cumbersome to carry.  The triangular handle is not mommy friendly (IMO).  But safety rules over convience always.

I bought the Baby Trend Flex Loc car seat because of the excellent crash test results, and reviews in Baby Bargains. I was very excited to find it on sale at Target for $75 early in my pregnancy. It took a little time to figure out the straps and all, but has since proven to be very easy to adjust! The dial in the back to adjust the strap height and headrest is my fave. The base was not difficult to install correctly using the LATCH system, and we use it in several other cars without the base, just strapped in with the belt. We also got the Snap-N-Go stroller in lieu of one of those giant travel... review »

Back in mid 2006 when I was expecting our first child my husband and I looked EVERYWHERE for the best infant car seat. After months of "car seat hunting" and doing a whole lot of research, we decided to go with a Baby Trend  Flex Lock Travel System. It was at a good price compared with other systems available in the market at the time and the reviews were more than promising. Therefore we decided to include it on our Baby Registry. The infant car seat has been a complete success for us since the "triangular" shape of the handle makes it very easy to carry allowing you to position your hand and...

First  off i have to say that i love  this car seat.  This is one of the number one rated infant  car seats.  It can hold up to 30  pounds and  hieghts  up to 30 inches.  It has an easy  one hand harness adjustment  and push button release.  It has 4-position push-button height adjustable base with level  indicator for proper installation. It's height adjustable and  easy to change with no harness  rethreading.  It is  a one - hand easy -access seat release with a smooth carrying handle that   won't scratch your arm . It has energy-absorbing  foam for superior side impact ...

I like the baby trend flex lock car seat and I like also the base that it fits because I feel my baby is safe and secure and in that's really the only thing that counts when it comes to car seats.  Size/shoulder adjustments are also very easy to make and directions are straight-forward and located on the seat itself. No more looking for the manual! Its all right there and virtually idiot proof.

The only thing that I would change are the buckles- though very secure, the bottom buckles are sometimes difficult to insert. They act like a puzzle piece - one goes on top of the other and then slips...
