This product works, and was excellent at whitening my cafe au lait birthmark. What needs to be pointed out is that it takes a long time to see results, but if you use this cream diligently every single day, you will notice a rapid change in skin after a couple of months. If you use it twice a day, you will see even more drastic change. The ingredient hydroquinone works to lighten up brown spots, and I was extremely happy with my results. The only slight downside is that this product is quite oily. It is not the best fit for oily skin types, or skin that is acne prone. It would cause me to break out a bit, but I mostly used it around my eye area, which isnt prone to breakouts. This cream has a short lifespan, and tends to become brown and ineffective after six months, so its best to use it diligently. The small tube actually lasts a long time! If you are looking for an effective over the counter skin lightening product, make sure to pick up this affordable option. You will see results, just make sure to use it daily. Effectiveness Takes time, but results show up around the 3 month mark. Ease of Application Spreads easily onto skin. Convenience Small tube is easy to use and is great for keeping the creams ingredients in tact. Side Effects Might make some skin types break out with acne. Not the best option for oily or acne prone skin.

while i was pregnant with my daughter, i got terrible melasma which is the hyper- pigmentation of the face due to hormones. i  basically thought that these huge unsightly bluish/purplish marks would disappear after i gave birth.  not so.  then i was holding out until i stopped nursing.  they still hung around.  the marks were so dark that they were nearly impossible to conceal even w/ cakey/thick concealer.  they were so bad i wouldn't dare go out of the house w/out a full face of makeup on and then i still felt self-conscious b/c the makeup was so clumpy and unnatural lookin. i finally decided to start researching products online and happened upon this one.  alpha hydrox spot light (active ingredient is hydroquinone) has changed my self esteem.  within a week of using it i saw a marked improvement.  now i am able to use just a light powder mineral foundation w/out any concealer underneath.  alpha hydrox has cut my beauty rountine in half.  now i feel confident to face the world. the only drawback i can see is that it has a bad odor(smells sort of like getting a permanent at the salon), but the odor dissipates quickly and  i didn't mind enduring it in exchange for the great results.  another plus is that it is relatively inexpensive for prescription quality results (only about 10 for a 24g  tube)
