    By accident, a couple of years ago, I got acquainted with Krud Kutter.  Positively the best thing that could have happened to me!  I was redoing a house that had some SERIOUS nicotine stains everywhere, and some mildew in others.  Regardless of what I used it on, if I just sprayed -waited the 30 to 45 seconds, and then wiped...it cleaned everything with amazing speed.  Now instead of a small spray bottle, I buy the gallon jugs and refill my sprayer.  It is clearly the best general purpose cleaner I have ever come across....
