Although you hear many bad things about Paris, the truth is, the majority of Parisians do not hate Americans! It's as simple as speaking their language- which is beautiful in itself. It is easy to getaround, it may take a day or two to get used to the Metro system, but no big deal if you have ever taken public transport before. It is a wonderful city to explore. Seeing the sights is, of course, a must, but just wandering the streets of Paris is enjoyable as well.
