We have a small master bedroom and I wanted to keep baby close. We moved baby in the crib @ 6 weeks and she is now 18 months and still enjoys the crib.  We've moved her out of the bedroom, but she still perfers the small portable crib over here regular size one.  One comment though - the matress that comes with the crib is junk.  It is thin and floppy.  I was afraid baby would be able to pull up and the crib sheets were bunching, so I bought a seperate crib matress and have no problems.
