This book was truly amazing in the way it was written. You could feel the pain of the soldiers as they were cut in half by the cannon fire. You could experience the anguish on both sides as they fought their own countrymen and in some instances former commrades in arms or classmates. This was a short time period in the total war time, but the detail and the representation of each side allowed the time span to seem like an eternity as it must have seemed for the men who fought those several battles over those few days.
