I purchased this printer when I was working on a project for my girlfriend who was in Alaska and away from me for the summer. I wanted to print photos and mail them to her like postcards. I also needed a new printer for school. To purchase a photo printer and a school printer was going to cost way more than I wanted to spend. The associate at Office Depot pointed out the Pixma series. I was a bit hesitant about a 2in1, but knew it was all I could afford. I ended up getting an in-store rebate as well as a mail-in rebate. Plus, all printers happened to be on sale that week.
