Woo Hoo, hit 200 reviews today, yeah for me. Mostly books still, for some reason I am having a difficult time getting to my non-book reviews, but I keep trying and I keep meaning to. I will eventually.
Ok, so I have gotten myself on an e-mail list that offers free samples almost daily. I have signed up for a few and only gotten a couple so far. I figure what a great way to branch out and start writing different types of reviews. I have really only written reviews for the books I read and the movies I watch, now - if I write one for every free sample I get - I should be able to increase my reviewer statis and at the same time figure out a way to feel comfortable writing reviews of other things. I think that has been my biggest problem. I am just not sure I am doing it right. I guess there is no right or wrong, just my way ! Makes sense to me. Ok, now that I have reasoned it out with myself and totally bored anyone who might have for some strange reason decided to read all this - I'll just shut up now!! LOL ;-)
OOhhhhhh, my computer is frustrating me. I keep doing my reviews, same as always, but something is wrong with my computer and it is messing up big time on viewpoints. I click to create a review, it says there is no image yet (I have them to put in) and then I start writing my reviews only to have my computer to freeze or shut down and then - even though it was never saved - I come back and start it again only to find that now I don't have the option to put an image in. I am messing it up for other people and I don't even get to see the page half the time. I brought it up a related problem on the message boards the other day, Meridith seems to think it is my virus protection or something similar. I have check all that, it didn't make any difference. I hate messing up the picture thing. I am so picky (almost OCD type) about the picture. I hate having to ask Meredith to keep fixing my computers foul-ups. Maybe I should start taking up lilsquibb offer to help with the cover picture problem. I will do my best to figure out the problem, fix it or find a way to work around it. I hope soon so I can stop bugging these people that probably have a lot better things to do than deal with my silly obsessions.
-- Ok, I rambled, that is not really like me to do but I think I will leave it, maybe to show just how frustrated and sorry I am if I messed cover picture for anyone else (like me).
In the mood for juvenile fiction.... the last 6 of my book reviews. Looking at the collection, I think my favorite youth book this month will have to be:
The Faerie Path by Frewin Jones, I am still looking for the next book in the triolgy, if I remember correctly it is called The Lost Queen.
I will am going to try to start reviewing other things, I have concentrated on books and a few movies, but maybe I will throw in a few other things here pretty soon. Mix it up a bit for myself and see how it feels.
Ok - ramble over for now, I could learn to like this - I see why some people do this.
My 2 Top favorite out of my most recent 50 reviews.
1. Gentle Rain 2. Faerie Path
Wow, this year is moving along so fast. I am shocked to find March almost over.
The year is almost over and now it is time to start looking ahead to the next year. I am not a big one for resolutions, --- I can set goals, (make 100+ reviews on books and 25+ on movies) or I can just hope that the fun I am having on this site continues. I find I enjoy stopping by and reading what other people think of the things I am interested in too. I also enjoy seeing what people think of what I say about different books and movies. Maybe I should try harder to branch out into other products ?????? I will give that one some thougt. I am also hoping to recruit a few of my friends to come and join this site, I would be interested in seeing what they would review and how.
Thank you everyone for stopping by. Great to reach 100, I am surprised at how quickly it went since most of them are books. Thanks for the compliment on my reviews also, I think they have been getting better, but it is nice to hear sometimes.
Oh my, only 4 more reviews and I get to be a 'Writer...3' won't that be exciting. I am amazed at how fast it has been going. I review almost every book I read (ok, so I skipped reviewing 'Green Eggs and Ham' and 'Duck on a Bike') and I finally started reviewing the movies I have been watching, I am still amazed at how quickly I went from only what 5 reviews at the beginning of the year to almost 100 - can I just say WOW and pat myself on the back ---- thanks, that felt great! Enough self pride, I have a book to read and then review. lol If anyone actually takes the time to read this ramble, I hope you have a great Halloween week and don't eat too many sweets, - you should leave some for me! ha
As of today, I have read 70 books this year, not including the kids books. I am off and running, I may need to increase my goal for the year again I wonder if it is too much to hope for 100. I thought 50 was going to be difficult when I started counting in May.
I also think that I am getting better at this reviewing process, I found myself today thinking that I would just do a really quick review of a book and the next thing I knew, it was about the same length as some of the ones I try to make longer. I hope they are getting better - let me know what you think if you have time to stop by and read one. I typically do books and not much (if anything) else.
9-20-08 63 books so far this year - Goodness, just finished l'Eau Clair Chronicles by Sharon Schulze. Harlequin Historicals, that was a fun series of books, 7 in all and I really enjoyed them. I will miss some of the regular characters and I suppose I will pick another series to read in a few days but for now I have a few in my to be read list that I think I will give my attention to.
9-6-08 Wow, so far this year I've read/listened to 52 books. I never would have guessed I could read that many so quickly. Writing these reviews have been a good way for me to keep track of them all. This has been a good experience for me. I hope to continue, even if I have to slow down a bit.
8-27-08 Time to go back to work, I guess it is time to slow down on books and reviews. I hope I can still get a couple a week.
8-19-08 Yeah, I think I just qualified for writer 2 statis.
8-10-08 I really would like to know if this style of reviewing works for other people also .....
7-25-08 I love to read, I am enjoying writing these reviews, they are getting better I think, enough to tempt but not spoil, that's the goal & what I look for in reviews I read. Thanks!
7-19-08 Whoo Hoo, writer 1, wow that didn't take as long as I thought it would.
I typically don't write very long reviews, I try to explain a little about the story, item and then give my opinion. I know some people want more, but on movies and books, I prefer just the overall feeling not as much specifics that way it doesn't spoil it.
I am slowly back tracking the movies I have watched this year, eventually I want to write a review for them all. It may take a while, some of them I don't remember what they were about, they didn't leave a lasting impression..
I also try to write reviews for all the books I read, that could take a long time also.
This site is becoming addictive to me. I never realized how much I wanted to share my opinions with others. I hope it helps someone.
