I would agree that the contractor is just as if not more important that the brand selected. The concern with the Goodman brand is that it tends to be available for sale to just about anyone. Accordingly, less skilled (and often less honest/reputable) contractors tend to offer this brand as they don't have to comply with the standards of some better known brands. Historically we have not been happy with the performance of Goodman (aka Amana, Janitrol) but every brand has a blemish in its history.
