My son finally found a dog which he enjoyed.  A Golden Retriever who has been a great companion for him and full of energy, warmth , swims the rivers, chase sticks and is never really grouchy ! He loves all people and is so sweet.  The one draw back is they have some health problems which I do believe he has out grown for him personally.  When he was very young, but 4 months old he developed a sore front shoulder which was absolutely painful for him where he would want to sleep all of the time.  The vet called it Chrodrinitus which could require surgery if it kept bothering him.  Lucked out,...
