Mucinex DM worked wonders for me and my husband.  After both of us had seasonal allergies / winter colds, we both had a horrible time sleeping through the night due to coughing sporadically all through the night.  With Mucinex being a 12 hour medication, I didn't have to worry about taking it every 4 to 6 hours, and it really did last the duration of the half day - no side effects, just a clear head, easier to breathe and the coughing was an absolute minimum (I don't believe ANY cough suppressant works 100%) - it was wonderful to finally get some restful sleep as well as be able to function at...
