I got my curve a few weeks ago and spent an entire day setting it up, installing the apps I wanted etc. My husband has one as well which I have to admit is one of the main reasons I got it (24/7 tech support) but it was between it and the iPhone. I can do just about everything I want to do with it. Downsides are no HTML email on browser based email and it can almost be too customizable with the profiles.
