After several years, the base went out on our Uniden but we still decided to stick with the same brand.  We upgraded to the 5.8ghz and went with a home base that had a cordless handset (whereas our old one had a corded handset).  We are extremely happy with the ease of use and quality.  The only drawback is that you have to store your names and numbers separately into each handset and/or base - it's not a global setting that applies to all phones once you store a… read full review »
