Eric Felten writes the "How's Your Drink" column for the Wall Street Journal, and does it extremely well. Literate, humorous, and useful, this book is a compendium of his WSJ efforts.

Do you know why a certain mixed drink is named as it is? When it was invented and where? What its antecedents were as well as its cultural history? All of these things and more are revealed to you, along with the author's own preferred recipes and deconstructions.

For those of us who remember the sacred "cocktail hour", its joys and misappropriations, this book is a classic. I can assure you that this book will neither... read full review »
