I bought my Oreck XL in 2000 and have used it happily since.  The vacuum works very well compared to other models I have owned in the past.  It is lightweight.  The XL does not come with any attachments and it is simple and straightforward.  There's nothing to break and nothing to repair.  The bags last longer than other brands and are well worth the investment.  They are sturdy. 

My vacuum adjusts for hardwood or carpet.  The interior is easy to clean and take apart if a large item clogs the hose.
