You were extremely lucky with State Farm. You said you had renters insurance which is quite different from homeowners insurance. There's where my problem was. All my neighbors who had other insurance received new roofs after hail and storm damage, but the State Farm people used a patch reimbursement method. Our roofs are wood so quite expensive; therefore, State Farm would not pay for them. Since we replaced the roof at our own expense (without their knowing about the replacement) and they canceled us because the roof needed to be replaced, I'd say that's pretty good evidence of corruption, especially since their very own adjusters declared that the roof just needed repair instead of replacement. This also happened to another neighbor--they replaced their roof when State Farm would only pay repair costs and then they were canceled. Check out the problems people have had in hurricane areas with State Farm. To quote an old adage, insuring with State Farm is being "penny wise and pound foolish."
