This seat is very good when you are ready to turn your child forward facing.  The American Academy of Pediatrics does recommend that you keep your child rear facing for 2 years to help keep them safe in an accident. If you turn you child forward facing early at the law weight of 1 year and 20 lbs and you are in an accident you are way more likely to have head neck and spine injuries with this.  This seat is good because when you do turn them forward facing it goes up to 65 lbs in the harness.  Some seats only go to 40 lbs in the harness and they are better protected in and 5 point harness.
