My wife and I shopped several stores and looked at and tried several mattresses. So many that the comparisons became more and more difficult and most salesman were not of much help.  I did a fair amount of internet comparison shopping also, and checked the tips at Consumer Reports.  The main suggestion was to spend 15 minutes on each mattress you are considering. So we did exactly that, and it took us the better part of 2 weeks to become almost totally confused.
