My mother in law was from Juarez, Mexico, so her cooking reflected a taste that is very typical of border towns. My husband grew up with this type of Tex-Mex food as his idea of "home cooking." He compares all Mexican restaurants to his mother's cooking. The San Diego restaurant is not typically Tex-Mex, but reflects a taste more reminiscent of the West Coast. However, the ingredients are so fresh and the flavors so clear that even this die-hard Tex-Mex fan was won over fast.
