Being a collector of both comics and books, I really enjoyed this exploration of dead Krypton's past. Anderson depicts a vibrant culture which is at the same time stagnating and dying under the oppression of a government bound by tradition and lethargy. Juxtaposed against this backdrop is the story of Zod's meteoric rise to power and the moral and emotional turmoil of Jor-El's choices as he attempts to save his world from a variety of disasters, with and without Zod's assistance.
