very disappointing for texting

we bought this phone for our 15 yr old son----who loves everything about the phone EXCEPT--------the keys crack from texting... we returned the first phone which they willingly admitted that they have had some problems with this issue, and then 1 month after that the new phone has done the same thing!!! so, 2 phones in 3 months and i think we'll be looking at something else.
