I'm currently reading the series for the second time. Though Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is found in the SciFi/Fantasy section of most bookstores, the novels include some of everything, from adventure to fantasy to romance. Jordan writes so that you see what the characters see, though when it gets gory, he gives bare details, though they are still a bit much for those with weak stomachs.
