I was on the fence about whether to get a Zune or an ipod for quite awhile. What sold it for me was that the Zune has the radio transmitter already built in. I found a very cute limited edition White 30GB zune on clearance, no less, and it was in my hands in less than 30 seconds. Now, I'm free to stop carry all my cd's in my car and can easily put together playlists for whatever I might me doing, or listen to podcasts while I work.
