We got our GE Spacesaver II as a wedding present in 1988! (Yes, 20 years ago!) We have never had any problems with it and use it for everything from defrosting frozen meats, melting chocolate or butter, to cooking a full meal in very little time. (We're both career busy folks who don't have much time to spend in the kitchen.) Now, its 600 watts are puny compared to the new 1100 watt ovens and reluctantly, I am researching new ovens to replace it. I plan to get a GE--they're real workers!
