Mad Men is, quite simply, the most outstanding show to hit the small screen in years. It would be easy to make an entertaining show set in the 1960s- after all, many of the target viewers grew up in that decade and would enjoy even a bad show as long as it included many of the artifacts of their childhood. But Mad Men is an excellent production that just happens to be set in the 1960s.
To be sure, it's a fascinating look at that period. The clothes, the hair, the food, the attitudes. But it's the stellar writing, the fascinating characters, and the compelling plots that keep the viewer...
