Every dog is at risk for heartworm disease whether they are indoors or outside. Heartworms are transmitted by mosquitos. Heartworms can cause a potentially fatal outcome. Heartguard chewables are easy to give and most dogs eat them up like treats. They must be given once a month year round for maximum protection. They also protect against roundworms and hookworms. If your dog becomes infected then it is very expensive to treat and places stress on your pet. So even though it may seem somewhat pricey it is well worth it to give these chewables monthly.
