Runnig with Scissors is the true story of the author's life growing up with a psychopath mother and an "unsavory" home life. His mother eventually sends him to live with her therapist. The therapist's family is even more unconventional than his real family. They are free spirits and free thinkers. They have other people who have lived int heir home, including a 3o-soemthing year old man who "molests" and eventually becomes the long-time boyfriedn of the author.
