If you want to see Ireland unspoiled and non-touristy, this should be a definite stop! Located halfway between Galway and Westport, in Cong village, Cong Abbey is not to be missed. The ruins are more rustic than most, but the columns and doorways in the main structures are amazing! Every column features a different design in beautiful detail and each doorway has at least five different layers of carved stonework. Truly breathtaking!
