When I first bought the Magic Eraser, I thought it felt nice in my hand and I was excited to get some scuffs off my floor and marks off the wall. I ended up scrubbing the wall and the floor so hard with it that my fingernails went through it and got filed down. The commercials show people effortlessly taking off scuffs and crayon marks. They must have softened up the stains with Vaseline first in order to get them off. When I realized that I was filing off my fingernails, I used the tried-and-true Vaseline method and it worked beautifully.
