Hi- Yeah I just joined this site today..have not had the time to througholy check it out; but just thought I would check in, so to speak. Thought for the day: "When the student is ready, the teacher appears"-saying from the Zen Buddhists. Pretty cool-I am a Masters Level Liscenced Social Worker by Profession; although I am out on Medical leave right now. So, I guess you might think I have a lot of time to go through this website; but I have taxes for about 4 years to do and a ton of paperwork plus I am writing a non-fiction, fiction book and a book of Poetry and Prose. Yeah, I am a pretty good writer and had one Publishing House interested; but they wanted money from me up front, so I declined. I googled Harper Collins-where Truman Capote got In Cold Blood published and a couple of other publishing houses have contacted me. Again I have not had the time to read through their practices and policies. So, maybe my ship will get in and I'll get published. While getting my Masters in Social Work, as a group, my Research class got published for a work about Discrimination Against Gay Youths in High School and the subsequent effects and consequences of the
homophobic community. It was hard b/c research and numbers are not my forte; but it was wicked interesting doing the research and talking to kids in a tough place. I am not Gay myself, but it was not hard to emphatsize (sp) with the kids; some of whom were afraid to come out b/c of what Family and Society does to them. Hopefully, we have come a ways since then; but I hate all the so-called isms, Racism, Classism,Sexism, Age Discrimination et al.
Right now I am sitting here in Boston listening to the drumming beat of the rain..hey it could be snow..well, more later-=Beanie773
(Yeah, I know it says Roslindale, MA, but Roslindale, W.Roxbury, Dorchester, Hyde Park, Allston, Brighton, Readville are all part of Boston. I guess the Founding Fathers felt it necessary to cut Boston up into these smaller parcels..I don't really know...think of it this way, Roslindale is to Boston like Manhatten (lived there, too), the Bronx and Queens etc. are to New York) Have a great day fellow viewpoinnters. Peace.
