Written by Michael Shaara in 1974 about the battle of Gettysburg. . This book won the Pulitzer for fiction in 1975.  A film adaption of the novel was released in 1993, produced by Ted Turner

The writer does an amazing job of making the characters come to life.  The book was the beginning of fascination with the civil war.  I read everything I could find, visit Gettysburg, but nothing was better than this book
