I was shopping for a new set of knives for the kitchen, while at Walmart and I saw it, there it sat at the end of the Utensil Isle.  The Ronco Veg O Matic, I had first bought one when I was married.  It was great then, and since I had left that life behind, so I left the Veg O Matic, he needed the cutting of vegetable help more than I so he got it, in the divorce.  He fought hard for it I always wondered if it was his lack of knowledge with the carrot peeler that bothered him or was it the ease of the "VEG' O MATIC?"  I didn't argue the usage angle, i had no real concerns with letting it go....
