Not even Thanksgiving yet and we have our First Snow of the season.

Actually, it's just a dusting, but it's only 22°F outside and winter is in the air.  It was flurring yesterday on my way home from work, but it fizzled out and didn't amount to much.  I certainly didn't expect to hear my daughter calling excitedly this morning, that there was snow on the ground - I mean there was no mention of it after all.  Then she proceeded to get more excited as she proclaimed it was still snowing.  ¿What?  Okay, this I gotta' see.  Ha! A few little flurries - "You aren't getting outta' school over that".  "No, but maybe we'll have an early delay."  You mean dismissal?  Not likely there's hardly any thing to snif about.  So, as the bus arrives I look down at her feet - hey you don't have any socks on - yeah, there in my bag, I'll put them on later.  This from the 17-year-old who thought she'd be getting a break from school. Go figure.  LOL.

The woes of encouraging your child to look for a college.

On one hand, you want your child to do well, to learn lots and grow to be independent of you - after all that's your job in life. :)

On the other hand, it's saying good-bye to a part of your life that grew with you slowly over time, that you became accoustomed to and then suddenly, far more quickly than you imagined, they are flying off on their own.  It's a change you must adapt quickly.

As your child drags his/her feet and doesn't look for a college you push and you prod, knowing that the window of opportunity is only open for a short time before it closes and then, where will your child be?  Missed opportunities, missed deadlines, missed goals, missed scholarships...on goes the list.  All you want is the best for your child, and yet, you think, hey, this is such a young age to be making a life long commitment.  End the end it will all work out - one way or another, but in the mean time you continue to push and prod, LOL. :)
