Along with 'The Village' and 'Lady in the Water' M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Happening' is another weak entry in the incredibly talented director's oeuvre. It creates a nice creepy mood in the first half but does nothing else in the second half. This is more like a silly fictional version of 'An Inconvenient Truth'. The ending tries to pound a message into us in the end. Mark wahlberg is miscast and looks like he's in a daze and even the great Betty Buckley looks lost. John Leguizamo fares better but isn't used much.
