Meyer's prose is decent, but her plot and character development are so atrocious that even the most brilliantly-worded sentences couldn't save them. Twilight's main character, Bella Swan, lacks any personality and gives the reader little motivation to like her. In fact, Bella's role in the novel seems to be solely that of "self-insert." Want to pretend you've got a hot vampire boyfriend? Just read Twilight and imagine you're the main character!
