This unit screws onto your faucet and stays there all the time. It has a lever to switch the water flow from being filtered or not. It is bulky and gets in the way when washing dinner plates or pots and pans.

The water does get filtered, but it's much easier to use the pitcher stlye water filters that you can fill up and stick in the fridge.
