I recently applied for the Capital One platinum card as I was assured there was no international transaction exchange charge with this card, and since my husband and I travel a fair amount abroad, that made this card very appealing. Upon applying for the card, I was given a very low ceiling for charges. I was told that if I requested a larger cap, there would be no problem. When I received the card, I requested and was denied the higher cap even though we pay everything in full every month. Maybe that was indeed the problem. Perhaps Capital One doesn't want people like me who pay it off each month....
