    While a good read, true Iles fans will be disappointed.

       I've read just about everything this author has written and this is not his best.  True fans will be disappointed but this is still a good read.  A physician holds his wife and two children hostage when he finds out that his wife has been having an affair -- of course her lover is one of the people working to rescue them.  Neither plot nor characters are realistic and while set in the south even the setting isn't as well drawn as other Iles books.
