3 years and I had to replace the door gasket for $250 on my whirlpool duet washing machine.  After 3.5 years the main bearing is going bad.  Cost prohibitive to repair. I've subsequntly have gone on line to research this issue and have discovered this is not an uncommon problem.  Before you buy, please reseach.  If you still decide to buy, please get the extended warranty. 

On top of the mechanical problems this thing stinks (actually smells).  The design promotes mold and mildew that will premeate through your house.  Oh, there's a fix for that too.  Just pay about $40's per year...
