This toy would be a great shape sorter if there were some way to prevent the lid from coming off once it's placed back on for baby to find the slots for the shapes to go into.

I spent $10 on this and had to end up buying a cube shape sorter because she is only interested in taking the lid off of this toy and putting the blocks in with the lid off.

If your child can leave the lid alone, I think it's a very valuable, educational tool. There are 10 shapes, 2 of each of the following: red triangle, purple cross, blue circle, green square, orange star.
