Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
"If you look deep enough you will see music; the heart of nature being everywhere music." -- Thomas Carlyle
"What is life, but to dream and do." - Margaret Gerkey
The quote from Mahatma Gandhi keeps coming back to me - "Be the change you want to see in the world."
It reminds me that I can do something to make a difference in this world. I as an individual can do things to affect change for better in this world. I don't have to be wealthy, making hefty cash donations or donate hours of time in charitable groups to achieve this. Don't get me wrong, these things are cool when people can do it, but right now in my life I can't do those. I have my limitations.
I am able to do other things to make a difference. I recycle. Believe it or not that's a big one. If everyone did that it would save tons of wate being added to landfills.
I try to shop greener by being a more aware, more informed consumer - reading labels and reviews. I read reviews here at Viewpoints. This is very helpful and has affected many of my purchasing decisions. Reviewers here share honestly their opinions, experiences, humor, good will and support. Thank you all !
I also read the labels. It's important to me to know that there's been no animal testing of products I shop for. I also prefer organic products. It's healthier for me and for the planet.
I can also affect change by writing reviews about various products, places, groups, etc. that I have experienced or moved by. I hope to improve my writing and hopefully affect others in a positive way with my reviews. Sometimes if something moves me I can even start a discussion group about it. Today I was moved by seeing something about "The Global Diabetes Handprint" I saw on "The View" so I posted a new discussion group about it. Maybe it will inspire others.
I can be aware of the opinions of others and be a considerate listener and reader. If I find the reviews of others to be helpful and/or interesting I vote "Yes" for helpful votes at the end of reviews here at Viewpoints. A person doesn't have to be a member of the Viewpoints community to do this. If you, the reader, have found something helpful and/or helpful, vote "yes" at the end of the review.
If you take what each of us does as individuals, add it together the differences made in this world are and can be tremendous.
I may have disabilities and challenges to deal with but I can still make a difference. I can be part of the positive changes I want so much to see in this world. We are all part of one human family, sharing one home - our beautiful planet earth. It needs our help. It's our responsibility to care for it.(And each other)
Each of you reading this can make a difference. Each of you can "Be the change you want to see in the world."
Many blessings.
A few minutes ago I was going through my email and got a laugh. Mascara that does all the work. You turn it on. The vibrations lengthen your lashes. That's right "vibrations" The mascara has a vibrator in it!!!!! I wonder what the commercial will be like. First the commercial for that tiny ring with a tiny vibrator, then followed by vibrating mascara. Both ends are covered! hehehe : )
This product is good material for a great humorous review. I wonder who will be the first to try it. Maybe Patty or Caprig! : )
(I hope no one is offended, for it is truly not my intention.)
"Laughter is the best medicine." - Old Saying
What a horribly difficult day! I received a call from the hospital - My hubby had been in a car accident and brought in by ambulance. They messed up one of the phone conversations with me, telling me he was in intensive car. Oh the picture that came to mind and I started crying. Oops she meant immediate care. I said, "Thank God!" and told her I'd be there as soon as I could get a ride.
I received a lift from his brother. I was in agonizing suspense, praying and worried sick about Kevin until I was able to speak with his doctor. The doctor told me Kevin had hit a tree hitting his head, injurying his head, neck and wrist and some minor cuts, scrapes and banged up. No bleeding in the brain, no internal bleeding. I asked about whiplash (already has a bad neck) and concussion. Mild concussion yes because of brain having been shook up, strained wrist and whiplash is very well possible. He could go home but was to straight to go bed, lots of liquid, ice, tylenol and rest.
I later found out from Kevin they had to cut him out of the car. Also the air bags never popped up. I told him never mind worrying the car we just got is totaled, and things left behind like food, fav cds and one of his meds; the most important thing is he is alive and going to be ok. It could have been much worse. Again, thank God!
I hope he mends quickly and nothing else pops up later. Please pray for him. Also for us! When he's ill his moods can be awful! Thank you.
I hope you all had a better day and a good evening!
"If I have been of service, if I have glimpsed more of the nature and essence of ultimate good, if I am inspired to reach wider horizons of thought and action, if I am at peace with myself, it has been a successful day." - Alex Noble
As I was waking up I heard the birds singing saw the sun shining brightly, and told Kevin, "Spring is on the way." I spoke too soon, pressure in the sinuses building, the joints aching - rain or snow later. Sure enough - the sky got darker and darker then a blizzard. An hour after it stopped, you'd never know it had snowed so hard. Not a trace of it. The sun is shining brightly and the birds are singing away. Crazy weather!
Today's shopping adventure : furniture hunting in second hand and antique stores.
Hope your day is a good one!
While we were out I saw something quite lovely. As I was about to get into the car, I glanced at the tree branches beside me. There were little green buds glowing brightly on the branches darkened by the rain with droplets of rain, not falling but just hanging there like little crystals. Very pretty. I wished I had a camera with me to capture the moment.
Woke up feeling that pressure in the to of my head, achey lower back and knees so I guessed rain. Sure enough it started an hour or so ago. Glad I took some arnica tablets.
Heard a Bob Marley tune in the car yesterday and now I can't get it out of my head. "One love, one heart, let's get together and feel alright." At least it's a good tune with a positive message. : )
Still writing away on paper. Then tonight and tomorrow drafting on line - hopefully successfully. If my arm spasms while I'm typing I sometimes accidentally delete what I've been working on. Hate it when that happens. Hence the scrapaper, which I recycle when finished with.
Time to run some errands in between the raindrops!
Hope everyone has a good day.
The sun is shining, the weather is warmer - I'm getting out for some fresh air. Yay!!!! (Well at least from here to the car and wherever)
Hopefully can do a bit of food shopping. I want some healthier foods and I have coupons! Another Yay!
hehehe I know it might look like I get excited easily but I've been cooped up for awhile with illness so I welcome the change. The last few times I was able to go food shopping , with sales and coupons, we saved at least $10 - $15 each time. When it's like that it can become a bit of a fun challenge. The other part of the challenge is to get it done before I'm in pain. Usually, my other half pushes the cart so I don't have to fold up the walker and put it in the cart to push. This way more room for goodies. Also I prefer my items unsquished. : )
Have to get ready so have to go. Have a nice day everyone!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers-
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours-
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.
