My Bernina 1630 is fantastic.  It never breaks down and is easy to operate.  I take it in for servicing every few years and that's all it needs.  I have had this machine for sixteen years, but I don't feel that it is outdated.  Of course, compared to the newer Bernina machines, it is limited in its capabilities, but it sews so well that it is still a pleasure to use.
