The Hungry Hummingbird [2001, Millbrook Press, ISBN: 0-7613-1951-4], by April Pulley Sayre and illustrated by Gay W. Holland, is a 32-page children's book about hummingbirds.
The Story:
A hummingbird decides to find some food on a bright and sunny August morning, but he's not having much luck at first. He tries several plants:
- daisies (bees like this pollen)
- butterfly (colorful but not food for hummingbird)
- trumpet vine & red honeysuckle (likes this food)
- red lights on back of car (no way)
- red hat (nope)
- red head on sapsucker (no, but the sap was good in the hole he left in the tree, but hummingbirds...
