I bought the Nikon D40 camera in 2008 for a great price and am very happy with it.  This camera is the bottom tier Nikon camera DSL model but not the worst.  The pictures taken with it come out great and the lense that usually come with the kits are very good.  I also bought a 30-200 VR zoom lense and remote control for it separately. From someone who used to take photos using a DSL film camera, I feel the camera has a nice a nice feel to it and doesn't feel cheap.
